1. tbh I can totally see why people dislike France, but thats another topic (sorry french people, dont hate you individually, but all together...yikes)

  2. There also one of the few countrys whose navy has a aircarft carrier comparable to America's.

  3. And that's why some Americans hate them? Oh dear.

  4. Like I said, makes no sense to me

    Lol, silly silly Mark

  5. I respect them for it. The De Gaulle is certainly better than the brits old carriers. Most countrys carriers use VTOL aircraft. Only The U.S.A, the French, and the Russians use conventional aircraft, which genreally have much better performance.

Why would they hate France? As far as I know, there's no reason why they should have a relationship like France and England do, where those two were destroying the neighbour's garden every other day.

France was one of the first countries to call bullshit on Bush and Cheney for going into Iraq. I beleive it had something to do with refusing the US to use their airspace. W. and the boys started a smear campaign against France to help distract Americans from their lies about Iraq and 9-11 and WMD's. This was the era when the White House kitchen began serving "Freedom Fries" instead of French fries. Ooh take that Frenchy!

That sounds about right, I remember the France hating started around then...although, I was like 8 or 9, so maybe I had just started noticing it around then...

And LOL at the "Take that Frenchy"
  8. Please folks, it's about politics..

You hit it on the nail with America and being blind-and not just of France.

You should check out some Noam Chomsky/Third World Traveler on the web.

I have a right to make a weak arguement. I think over half the males in my family have fought for the red, white, and blue. None of them have ever died, but one was wounded in Europe, and another lost an eye in a freak accident while serving in the 60's. (and in case you forgot, I'm thinking of joining, although now I'm leaning towards the Navy instead of the Air force.)

You certainly do have a right to make a weak argument. It's a little sad though you're okay with it being weak.

What is making you lean more towards the Navy? (I have had a few friends in both)

Mostely the fact that the Air Force tends to get more applicants than they know what to do with. Also, most people I've talked too said the best thing about the Navy, was how much most of them get to travel. I'm the kind of guy, who wants to see alot of diffrent places, and America has over 100 naval bases, and ports of call around the world. The Air Force, also has a bunch of bases around the world, but it's diffrent being assigned somewhere, and only visiting it on a leave.

  12. I meant it as a thing of respect. French bashing actually goes back to the eighties, when they refused to support us, when we bombed Tripoli.
