Yes, but he took the stage in New Hampshire to "Our Country" by John Mellencamp....which almost cost him any shot at getting my vote.

How true!! he did redeem himself by leaving to "The Rising" though. That damn "Our Country" is actually making me miss "Like a Rock."

Don't think so. Both Iranians and Americans are way too stubborn...
  3. So...Johnny wanted to know a bit more about our government and how our country works...so I thought I better post it here instead of General (and you know I don't open new topics )

I found this great thing on BBC:

It shows who chooses who and how is everything working...well it doesn't work.

The problem is that even if we accept that a Supreme Leader is needed (not all scholars accept that), then the problem shows itself when the so called "Guardian Council" appointed by the leader have to "approve" whoever goes to the Parliament or becomes the president.

This way we can't have a democratic change in direction that easily...a powerful person who can initiate reforms and get them somewhere wouldn't get past the council.

And the big "loop" problem (it's famous here ): We choose the experts assembly (the only ones who have the power to change the leader), the leader appoints the Guardian Council, now, when we are choosing the next experts assembly, the candidates are approved by the guardian coucil (and therefore by the leader)...so the people we choose to control the leader are to be approved by the leader himself!!

Anyways, if you go here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/middle_east/03/iran_power/html/default.stm

Hope everyone DID vote! Hillary got mine, though it was close for me between her and Obama. In the end, the promise of universal health care, the repeal of No Child Left Behind, and her experience in the White House won her over for me.
  7. Obama and Hillary got a Super-deuce!

I have a question. Will a democrat, who has voted for Obama, vote for Hillary if she rersults to be the Democrat nominee to White House (and viceversa)?
  8. Did you guys saw the speech from Obama on the night of Super Tuesday? He entered the stage with Beautiful Day!!!!!

Hard to answer for all Democrats, but I'd say that 90% of them will. Both parties tend to stick with their party lines once the nominees are announced (in August at the conventions), as they'd rather have someone from their own party (even if that person wasn't their first choice for the job) in the White House than someone from the opposing party. However, if a candidate that doesn't get the party nomination decides to run as an Independent, throw all that logic out the window. (for example, if Clinton won the Democratic nomination, and Obama decided to run as an Independent, most people who voted for Obama in the primaries would probably follow him and vote for him in the general election.) Very unlikely, at least in the case of Obama and Clinton, but things like this have happened in the past. Hope that clears things up.

I would. My first choice is Barack, but I would vote in a second for Hillary if my other choice is a Republican who has stated that he is willing to stay in Iraq for 100 years, and has already promised more wars. Just curious about what those of you who don't live in the U.S. What are some of your takes on this election?
