1. I dont know this, but in the u.S, Muslims are kinda treated as a protected group. Opening a mosque ten years too the day after 9/11 near Ground Zero, seems like a "We'll do whatever the hell we ant, and we dont care what you say" move.

    As long as the construction is legally OK, I can't see a problem. I bet there's plenty of mosques in NY, another one shouldn't matter.
