1. I'm not following you drewhiggings. Does not the idea of a charity-type solo album seem plausible? It has nothing to do with past albums but of reaching people now with something current and in need of exposure.

    Love that song!
  3. I think the album just records the songs which Bono performs with other stars. It doesn't mean he wants to betray the band.
  4. Don't look forward to it too...Gwen Stefani once chose to make some solo-albums. Some of them were quite good, but lately se decided to ga back to No Doubt because she missed them. Bono without Adam, Edge and Larry isn't Bono...than it's just Paul Hewson. U2 is great because they form such a strong quartet, for more than 25 years now. I'd say: don't produce a solo-album but put your efforts in a second Achtung Baby. And what about a tour?? If this rumor is true, will Bono start a tour?? I don't believe this on this first place..
  5. Can you imagine how awkward it would be to go see solo-act Bono on tour?! I know I wouldn't want to be his backup band. Those are some big shoes to fill...

'7 nights' [the name of the newspaper] was told exclusively that U2's frontman is working on a solo album with producer Nigel Godrich. The man that brought McCartney back to life, set up Travis a career and considered Radiohead's sixth member, is probably the only guy who can get Bono out of his monotonous songs from the previous albums.
Even if he is coming to this project after some unsuccessful projects with Beck, Charlotte Ginsberg and Air.

    Date of release is unknown.

I have no intention in starting rumors and such, so don't treat this article as 100% true.

Well, there's something i'll never buy.

I have no intention of hearing him whine about Africa, and talk about how good a job his Neocon friends are doing, for an hour whilst royally fucking over us, his fans, by continuing to force himself in everyone's face and proving to us all the (very talented) hypocrite he is.
  7. Yeah. It is a dumb idea. I wouln'dt mind if The Edge started a side band though. That I can see working. It could be like the European version of Damn Yankees.

Possible lineup if The Edge were to try this.

    The Edge (guitars and vocals)
    Noel Galaghar (guitars and vocals)
    Curt Smith (bass and vocals)
    Steve Ferrone (drums)

Would you guys listen to this? Now that would be a bitchin sideband.

With Noel Gallagher, definitely. That'd be wicked sweet.
  9. I doubt it... nah...

Bono without U2 is just like a house without a floor...

    Still a house though
  11. There are already some 50+ recordings of Bono "solo", mostly with other artists (Sinatra, Clannad, Kylie, Mick Jagger, Wyclef, The Corrs, etc), even U2's Silver and Gold is originally Bono solo with Keith Richards and Ron Wood. So what is the problem if he records a few more? Or if these were to be collected on an official album? Other band members have their side projects as well, nothing of this will end or betray U2.
  12. Bono s done plenty of collaberations as bono. ie with Mick Jagger. Michael Hutchence. Roy Orbison etc etc thelist is real long. If u kno ur history u'll kno the songs; which if u put them together on CD would make a nice compilation of bonos collaberations with other artists as a solo artist. Although Bono&Edge have done lots of work together as themselves and not as U2. Also Larry&Adam did Mission Impossible. would this be called a solo project as they did it without bono and Edge?
