A great opening night! No need to say more about the show, but here's some fun anecdotes from our section. The Moron factor was at medium last night. The guy to the left of me clearly loved the Darkness album as he sang along to most of those songs, and brilliantly called "Something in the Night" during the intro to Long walk Home. The guys in front of us
were chatty throughout the night. One turned to say something to my buddy, also rolling,
during the encore break. My buddy just looked at him and nodded, a la Silent Bob;
I shut that shit down by saying, "Oh, he doesn't speak English." I left it on the tape
Then there was a 12 year old behind us chatting with pops; super-fan pops was on top of his game, barking out, "New album" for all the new songs.
Then the alternate title comes from the fact that the mopes in front of us spilled beer all over the stairs, and at least 10 people took spills right next to us throughout the night.
Guys in Hartford obviously don't know how to use mops correctly. . .
Distracting at times, but does not significantly mar a very satisfying recording.

Night’s comments:
1st show of 2 at Chicago's United Center; he's been on a bad streak in Chicago for the last few years, with sub-par performances on the Rising, D&D, and Seeger Sessions tour, so I had somewhat low expectations for the first night in Chicago. All things considered, it was a pretty good show, with some lesser-played (so far) tracks in the set such as "Adam Raised A Cain" and "Cadillac Ranch" ... although these early-tour shows are short (for Bruce), he played with high energy and whipped the crowd into a frenzy, as usual. I have high expectations for tomorrow night.
This recording was made in the back third of the floor, even with the soundboard and in line with the left speaker stack. You'll find some talkers near me for the early part of the set until I was able to navigate into an "oasis" of fans that weren't carrying on lengthy conversations with their neighbors. The early "Magic" songs (Gypsy Biker, Magic) are kind of a mess with chatty fans near me, but the quality of the recording improves significantly as the show goes on. The sound was quite good on the floor, and it's reflected on the recording.
There may be other sources that surface over time, but this is quite enjoyable as it is. This is the raw source (obviously, since the show ended 2 hours ago) -- no EQ'ing has been done. Feel free to remaster and repost as you wish, but please document what you changed.

Ademotte’s comments:
2nd show at Chicago's United Center; as far as I'm concerned, this one redeemed Bruce for the lackluster D&D and Rising shows he's done in Chicago in recent years. This was probably the shortest show of the tour so far (roughly 120 minutes), but packed with audibles and rarities throughout that he hasn't played in years. The energy was noticeably much higher tonight, with Bruce bolstering the midsection of the show with the rarity "Tunnel of Love" (how many times has he played this since 1988? Two?), "Spirit In The Night," and "Darlington County." Nobody in even the highest reaches of the United Center was still seated by the time the show hit the 70-minute mark.
During the encore, Bruce acknowledged a 12-year-old boy in the front row who had been holding a sign for "Thunder Road" throughout the show. After bantering with the kid for a minute, Bruce switched guitars and said, "This is a test. We're going to do a song we haven't played in about five years. But before that, we'd played it for 25 years straight, so it kind of evened out." The camera remained focused on the boy (who was overjoyed) on and off throughout the song; it was a great moment.
I may not be qualified to say this, having only seen the Chicago shows, but it's hard to imagine that this *wasn't* one of the best of the tour so far.
I've only spent a few minutes with the recording, but it appears to be somewhat better than the first night. I was exactly halfway back on the floor in line with the left stack; a perfect taping location although I had to put up with some talkers (fewer than I did on the first night) around me. I suspect they're noticeable on the quieter "Magic" songs, but in my spot-checking I didn't hear any crowd noise that intruded too much on the music.
This tour is going to be *great* by the time Bruce hits the stadiums next summer.

======
"This was originally the only Bay Area show on the schedule, so it's been long-sold out, and the energy in the place was high -- even before the show started, with spontaneous cheers arising before the lights went down. As one fan puts it, "Church was back in session tonight... another great show, but this time with the appropriate feedback from the crowd!" Six songs not played the night before, including "Tunnel of Love" and the debut of "Working on the Highway," both of which were setlisted but not played on night one; plus as the tour premieres of "Two Hearts" (complete with the "It Takes Two" outro) and "Racing in the Street." "Working" was a whole lot of fun, feeling fresh and recalling more its closing slot on the '92/93 tour than its place as a semi-disappointing post-"Tenth" wildcard on the reunion tour. It's good to see Bruce remember that he's got other songs in the canon that can do the job of "Darlington" (and of course this is still just the top of the iceberg). "Racing in the Street" brought the energy level down a bit -- "I've seen 'Racing' build at the end to have crowd coming to its feet," says another fan, "but it didn't do that tonight" -- but it was still absolutely gorgeous.
The only one that didn't go over, sadly, was "Thundercrack." Bruce introduced it by mentioning The Matrix, where he played with Steel Mill when he was just 19... but since he played relatively few West Coast shows in the early '70s, there just wasn't that much familiarity with this song. After his cue to sing along at the beginning was met with bewilderment by the crowd, Bruce said, "That was terrible!" But of course after the song builds, and from there goes into "Born to Run," "Dancing in the Dark," and "American Land," any terribleness on anyone's part was soon forgotten." - backstreets.com

Source Notes:
Seats were two rows deep under the club seats overhang, off the stage left rear corner. Rear stacks were hung very high and the difference between standing and sitting/knealing somewhat lower was signifigant. There will be noticeable phasing at times due to the up and down nature of my participation. Over all the sound at this location was disapointing to me.
Post NOTES
(Only post processing noted below was applied to this material.)
Editing done in 32bit/48khz realm:
----------------------------------------------------------------
- Clip repair - Several overs were repaired to 0, Limit of -2db applied, then re-repaired clips/flats to 0
- click & Pop reduction - attenuated worst near clapping.
- Level adjustment via envelope - raised "Magic" 35%
- nip/TUCK/fades - in multi track mode, the opening minutes of pre show conversation were trimed then cross faded and the transition spaning the MT24/96 file split was cross faded and falls on disc 2 between tracks 8 & 9. Disc splits are seamless. Cut some ovation during encore
break and from ending outro to fit two 80's.
Resample/dithered to 16bit/44.1khz
---------------------------------------------------------------
Random Notes:
A few times during the show I shared comments with my friend and the results are very noticeable in the shift in sound stage.

The comments below are from the guy who posted the show on DIME.
This is one of two versions I have of this show...both my son and I taped. This is my son's version from the pit, 30 feet from stage, dead center. Only his second time taping and first with the Microtrack and he had a little problem with the levels early on. The volume of the first seven tracks was boosted and some fluctuations in track 1 and 7 were smoothed out as best I could. You'll likely hear a slight variance at those points. Also , mic noise at about the 2:30 mark of Dancing in The Dark.

This is a remix of two audience tapes provided by Will P. from 11/5/07 Auburn Hills. I thought that both versions of this were very good recordings, but it seemed that what each was lacking, the other had and upon listening, I think they complement each other quite well. Below are the tape notes regarding each recording and at the end the link to the remix:
This is the second version of this show I have and is an alternate to the one my son recorded from the pit which I uploaded earlier. Available here...
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?returnto=%2Faccount-cp.php&id=169701
This version was recorded from the second row of the second level, directly to the side of the stage. Due to the banana stacks over the front and back corners of the stage pointed 45 degrees to the right and left of the taper, this recording has more indirect sound than the pit version. This version does have much less audience intrusion and *perhaps* cleaner vocals.
I'll use the same song portions for samples so you can open another window, run an A/B comparison and decide for yourself.

This was recorded from one of the back corners of the arena on the second level and turned out better than I expected, given the distance to the speaker stacks. The one second drop-out in Ties that Bind actually happened live at the show (first time I've seen that happen). It is not a recording glitch.
Enjoy!

- Thanks to "JB" for his previously uncirculated audience recording (and his patience).
- Not the best recording of the tour but clearly the best we've heard from this show so far.
- Worth editing just to hear "Jungleland" into "Born To Run" again.
======
"The first night in Boston, "Home of the World Champion..." Bruce began, putting on a dejected face as the crowd went nuts for the Sox, "ah, you know the rest." That was his only sullen moment of the night -- it was a high-energy show start to finish, with a typically great Beantown crowd to match. "She's the One" was especially intense, Bruce channeling his energy at the end into a high toss of his guitar to tech Kevin -- right over Garry's head. Good thing Kevin's got hands, and good thing Garry's not a couple inches taller. A special moment came a few songs later, before "I'll Work For Your Love": "I'm kind of like a captain of a ship," said Bruce, "We've got a little proposal going on!" At the front of the pit was a guy with a sign that read "We met 15 years ago, I'm proposing tonight!" The lucky lady was held aloft during the song as Bruce blessed their union. "Alright, kids, remember... you gotta work, work!" (And to stress that point, he went into "Tunnel of Love" next.) He also added, "Next time try a candlelight dinner, bottle of wine, the usual." Clarence was spot-on all night, especially on... wait for it... yep, "Jungleland," in the encore. The Big Man nailed his spotlight moment. The only real curveball in the set, "Jungleland" went out to Bruce's friend Bob Coles, as well as a whole host of "mamas" in the crowd, including Max's mom and George Travis's too, who's 93! Also in the house, hometown fave -- and frequent Springsteen guest, though not tonight -- Peter Wolf. Maybe tomorrow?" -backstreets.com

Amplify, track split in Audacity > FLAC encoding in TLH on sector boundaries > Make Torrent 1.2
This is an excellent recording with minimal crowd interference. An upgrade from other sources IMHO. Not split for cds, however with 80 minute discs, a natural break follows Working on the Highway. I padded the split prior to Devil's Arcade by a few seconds accordingly.

Due to lack of space on this post (the system doesn't allow me to post over 60.000 letters...), all the next shows (European Leg of 2007, American Leg of 2008 and so on...) will be posted on the LikeASong post, on this same page (scroll down a few!).[/U][/I]
