Well yeah that might have something to do with it
    Oh well it's OK know
  2. I haven't gone through this entire thread being it is very huge, so it may already have been posted.

I may need to check with any other aussies (same region and format)...

Did anyone actually get a copy of the box set that wasn't in NTSC? I got mine online from JB hifi, advertised as being in PAL format, and i received in NTSC format. (Not a major concern as I know how to use NTSC).

I also noticed it was not marketed by Universal Music in Australia, but it seems as though it has been imported (it says marketed by Universal in EU).

My main concern, as one of my previous posts mentioned I can't open til May, should I get concerned therefore as to whether if it is an import, if it also is encoded in a region format other than 4 (AU). The back of the box does not specify. If so I probably should check it out now otherwise I won't be able to use on my laptop/dvd player and/or get it replaced if I leave it til May.

I would appreciate some help from aussies who would or should have something in a similar format to what I have received. If it's similar to mine, I know it was a general format issued in AU and I have no need to worry. Thanks

    Drew, maybe you can help??

  3. G'day Andy!

All the JB Hi-Fi ones are in PAL, so it shouldn't matter. I read on my DVD program that it was in Region 4 PAL which is Australia (that was using AnyDVD).
  4. That is the problem, the one i got from JB has an NTSC sticker & label on the box, but no region label. From what country is yours marketed (by Universal)?
  5. I got no stickers or labels on mine at all. But I checked out the disc in AnyDVD and it tells me the disc is an NTSC. So there you go, it's definitely an import.

Mine is marketed by Universal in the EU and the UK - no mention of Australia or the United States. I'm also told it's region free as well. I had a thought it was originally NTSC because you know when you put in the disc your TV flicks over and jumps.
  6. aaah. That's exactly it. Thanks heaps. Sounds like I'm safe with the region code thing.

  8. I'm soo pissed!!!
you have no idea... this monday afternoon, the 24th, I was walking alone trying to clear up a little my head, even trying to fly away from the troubled days I had before... I walked and saw this cd-shop, and then I almost fainted.... they had the Joshua Tree SUPER DELUXE EDITION for sale!!!
I felt my knees failing on me.... haha! I couldn't believe it.. since Universal is not going to release any of the versions here in Argentina...
I went inside the store, big smile on my face....
then asked the salesman about the JT box, he told me, oh yeah we have 6 of those... I got scared, i mumbled how much for it?? I swear it was like a very cold bucket of water on my head, well, he said: USD 135!!!!!!
I almost fainted again!!! haha!!! more than two times the regular price!!!
I said to myself, well, WTF I'll probably have no chance to get it anywhere else, so I asked him if they take credit cards, and if they offered any payments plan... he said, no, just cash!!
so I had to go home, with my hands empty as I left, and with a sad face...
I'll have to wait a little longer...

Are you sure they're legit if he won't accept credit card????

Seesm very unusual in this day-and-age not to accept cards. Over here in the UK it would be anyway. If not, I'd be suspicious.

That sucks for you Johnny, but I'm sure you will get one somehow soon

    Keep smiling!!

    Edit
Can you not take out cash on your credit card and do it that way?

that's the issue my friend!! I'm pretty sure that they smuggled the JT BOX, and most of this places when they ask for cash is becouse they won't even give you a receipt... I'm sure the BOX was Legit...
and I could have taken the money from the credit card, but it's too expensive for me, if they had payments plan, like maybe 6 payments or something, that would have been a whole different picture.... but for me to take that amount of money is too expensive...

but WTH, somedays are better than others... and a few minutes ago, I was telling this story to a friend of mine by msn, who lives here but for a few months the office sent her to Texas untill february, and maybe she can buy it for me and give it to me when she comes...
    so, who knows...
    cheers!

A friend of mine has got it and he expect the vinyl to be signed by U2 since he's travelling to Dublin next week. That vinyl is a piece of art and history
