1. I've been listening to October lately, and I'm really starting to like the last song on the album-Is That All? It's a song we never talk about, and it's never been played live, but I think it's a very strong song. It's riff is the same riff used for "Cry". Any opinions on this song? There are some other songs that have not really been discussed. I've made a small list below. Can't wait to hear your opinions!

New York: One of my favorites. I really love the sound of this one. Too bad it's not played live very often.

Drowning Man: This song has a ton of emotion in it. I listened to it last night and it really spooked me. In a way, I could see this song being about the Titanic. Edge once stated that he was really attached to this song when they were recording War. He also said that it's one of his favorites.

Trip Through Your Wires: A lot of people stated that this is their least-favorite song on The Joshua Tree. I love this song. IMO, this is really the first song on R&H. It's a great song, but it doesn't belong on The Joshua Tree. It's like "Desire Part 1".

I'd love to hear your opinions! Let me know what you think!
  2. Is That All is all about The Cry for me. Not to keen on the rest of the song though.

I cannot stand the album version of New York but as a live song it's most definatley one of U2's most underrated.

I was one of those who cited Trip Through Your Wires as my least favourite track on JT but my reason (like everyone elses) was not because I disliked thesong, but just look at the rest of the songs on that album. Something had to give and for meit was Trip Through Your Wires.

No opinion on Drowning Man. It's just there

I agree with what you mean about TTYW. JT is such a strong album. I would love to hear The Cry recorded. Just like a little piece, maybe 40 seconds like Freedom For My People. Or maybe Bono could take all the lyrics he's ever used for The Cry, and make it a full song ike Numb with the rhyming theme.
  4. new york is one of the finest, i like the version from the boston dvd.
another song i like very much which no one talks about is "one step closer",i listen to it a lot and i think it's a great song, sometimes i think it's their best from HTDAAB.
  5. Hmm i don't really like Is that all or Drowning man...

But about New York : Really cool and powerful Iive song !!
"That's were i lost you..." really a shame it hasn't been played so much

TTYW => Like germcevoy said before, i think it's a bit strange to be on JT...
But i you just check the song, it's more than ok for me

TTYW is great, especially live..Love the song!
  7. I like Tomorrow, I think it's so haunting and powerful, but nobody ever talks about it. In fact I like all the songs from October, I think it's always an underrated album, like Pop.
  8. Nice topic!
I have listened to Is That All only a few times. On the first days when I had got my hands on the older U2 albums I just listened to all the songs shuffled and had heard Is That All a couple of times there, without paying much attention...and then when I heard Cry the riff just sounded familiar so I went and found Is That All and listened to it again (guess that makes it 3 times! )...can't do it now, will listen to it more carefully later today and give you my (very much humble) opinion!
I love both New York and Drowning Man (and I thought I was the only one!)!...I like New York, even the album version, I love the part near the ending (the women and children and "that's where I lost you" part!). Drowning Man has for a long time been one of my favorites...it's a powerful song and Bono does a great job singing it (he is just great in the "Hold on...and hold on tightly" part).

And about One Step Closer, again one of my loved songs, specially after I read that it was about death, which made the lyrics much more meaningful!
  9. yes tommorow is a great song .......
heard some live versions of this song but the album version is
