i dunno....the Fly is good...but to me its not media related, somewhat. EBBTRT to me is definitive because of the lyrics and sound. EBTTRT, title alone, promotes PopMart too....

I think the Elevation versions are the best, even though they were more befitting of the previous 2 tours. I just think The Fly was symbolic of the redirection AB heralded, aswell as being thematically spot on for the ZooTV ideals, i.e. everything's a lie. Paranoia at its extreme stages, if you will.

true.....I take that back about EBTTRT being theme of Zoo. That honor def goes to the Fly. As for PopMart, Discotheque and EBTTRT are thematic anthems of PopMart.

Media and commercialism in one song....how more satrical could a song be?

Elevation versions best for EBTTRT? I hope you meant the Fly!

Nope. I definitely meant Elevation. I'm not too keen on a lot of ZooTV versions, they suffered from a lack of power for me, although they're still great. PopMart just suffered from Bono's voice, primarily, but Elevation had power and a decent voice to boot. Not to mention I like the fact that it was a rarity, and I love rarities from various tours . As for the Fly, I mentioned this ages ago, my favourites are still ZooTV. Vertigo and Elevation come joint 2nd. I love playing a la Elevation, but as a spectacle I love seeing/hearing Edge playing his Clapton Strat...

true...but i like the Zoo versions with all the backing synths they had (loudly heard on the Verona gig lol). As for PopMart it was a bit Zoo-esque for the 1st leg, then the intro got extended, which improved the song a bit. As for Bono's voice, dont listen to that East Rutherford gig. Even I sounded better than he did lol. Elevation versions seemed odd to me, not enough oomph IMO.

    *thinks*

Which East Rutherford show in particular? There are 2, and I have the 2nd show...you and your synth.

The 5 five star one - Bono swallows New Jersey. And yes, i grew up with the 90s and Who's Next, where synth rock was invented.

I grew up with the 90s too lol, but have little in the way of a synth rock obsession lol. And yeah I have that 5 star one, will check it out soon enough

The first supergroup I ever got into was ABBA lol...

so when Bono sings Dancing Queen you get chills?

The Pop album, sonically I'm so familiar with because it reminds me of my days in early grade school (go figure).

    ahh! off topic!

No lol. When I listen to the Stockholm show when Bjorn and Benny turn up, I think "how fucking uber is that?" but I don't the chills lol. It was mainly the father of mine who's a strange one at the best of times and had a cassette of one of their Best Ofs, and I loved that, then got a double Best Of CD as a b'day present, and started listening to some of his vinyls. I say he's a strange one because he listens to people like Alison Moyet and random folk music in his car when I left a perfectly good U2 1980-90 Best Of in the CD player "by accident"!
