I remembered when I read that apple link you gave me, a few months back, right by the time I stopped using it...it was working fine, I would connect it load it with stuff and take it with me, then one day when I connected it suddenly windows gave me this message that the drive needs to be formatted. I didn't do it because I had lots of my university project files on it, and it survived, but iTunes wouldn't recognize it anymore.

I got that with my classic numerous times. No more problems now...it's been passed down.

No such problems with the touch. All that does is sit there on the Apple logo if something is wrong. It's easy to fix if you know how.

iPod Touch 2G Jailbroken by the iPhone Dev Team

The 2nd generation iPod touch proved a tricky customer to break, but the Dev Team has made the first big step toward a full-on jailbreak.

The Dev Team stumbled upon the break when making yellowsn0w, the iPhone jailbreaker and network unlocker, but says the touch's jailbreak is far too manual to be done by most people at this point. But this is the first big breakthrough and it's become a focus of the Team's efforts. Once again, Apple can't seem to make anything the Team can't break.

From what I've heard from a few devs, the touch turns on with the Apple logo and the spinning circle but doesn't boot to the springboard (main screen with apps, time, WiFi etc). You need to then run the jailbreak and apply it every time at boot, then it boots fine with Cydia, Terminal etc. So this is what the article means when it says it is "far too manual".

But when you turn it off, the touch needs to be jailbroken again. This is the main problem they've been having with it. Progress, bloody brilliant...

amazing! Are they gonna keep working on it to make it...less manual? It will be great for us here, as we can't get anything from the Apps store or iTunes, not even the free stuff.

Yeah - I think what will happen is they'll try and fix the boot problem. I've no idea how long that's gonna take - and then you'll get to do the jailbreak through QuickPwn.

Then you'll have something like this if you want:

Unlock screen with custom weather widget coded in HTML and Javascript.

Some custom settings icons.

The main screen or springboard with numeric battery and custom WiFi title.

SBSettings for accessing settings quickly and easily, by swiping over the status bar.

This is only what the developers are saying; and it's great to see it finally happening. It works, but only if you want to apply a patch every time you connect it to iTunes or boot it.

Hey guys. I'm looking for a clear Vista theme. There are plenty available on the web, but only .theme files seem to work for me. The only one that I could find was the MaxClear one. However, it looks terrible, and is not clear at all. If any of you know of a clear .theme file, or even a converter for .msstyles to .theme, it would be greatly appreciated. I've already unpatched the Aero theme with Vista Glazz, I'm not sure if that info was necessary or not.

They're great fun. Check out the App Store or wait for the 2G jailbreak to have later.

Regarding the Vista theme, there's heaps on DeviantArt. As for conversions of theme files, I don't think you can. Or you can and I don't know. Vista Glazz should be alright to use as long as you don't have Service Pack 1 installed. If you have the Business, Ultimate or Premium versions of Vista you could just enable transparency like below.
