Have imported my winvista Firefox profile without problems though and it feel snappy.

But i doubt i am able to use ubuntu daily

Ubuntu works well enough with most things - the only reasons I'm not swapping yet is for the lack of Foobar running natively. That's all. And a DVD burning app which can remove copy protection so I don't have to sit through 30 minutes of advertising and piracy warnings on my own movies.

The problem with it is not the OS itself...it's the support of companies and their attitude to development (and why open-source has done so well). Most companies don't give a stuff about it and won't develop for such a so-called niche market. They support either Windows or Mac, usually because more people supposedly use it. In the early days of Mozilla, a lot of people said Firefox would fail dismally. In 2001 developers and others said the iPod would die an early death and a lot said Microsoft would never release another OS after Windows 2000. All wrong.

hmm, it still says "sign up for FREE"...I can't remember my ID and stuff and don't have time to re-join, so that's as deep as I can tell you

Signing up is different to maintaining an account. I never figured out Last.FM.
  2. That's pretty cool. 500GB worth of data, though? Hmmmm...it'd certainly be a talking point.

  3. As ridiculous as the price is...if I sell some games and systems that I never use anyone I can come close to getting the 700 one. I am considering a used one too.

  4. The last 4 years they stated that 500GB holographic discs were nearly ready for massproduction. I dont think they can do anything soon.

I got my TV Tuner and Windows Live Messenger running on ubuntu I might switch when some nasty bugs in WINE are fixed

What TV tuner do you have? If mine can run on Ubuntu, then that's great.

What about Foobar and a decent iPod sync app (for the touch)?
  6. I have a Pinnacle Hybrid Stick Pro (320e; usb). I got both analogue and DVB-T working. Below is a screenshot of Messenger, Foobar2000 and a linux app for my tv tuner. Messenger is a bit slow but most think work!

Ironicly the tvquality is better than on windows (screenshot is crap though). On windows the standard contrast, brightness etc are screwed up. But you better check if you're tv card is supported. My older NVTV tuner is not!

My webcam works as well btw (Logitech QuickCam), but a bug in WINE makes it unusable in Live Messenger But it works fine in native apps.

  7. ok fellas...
so finally I got my Ipod!!
got a 120 GB classic, brand new....

here's the questions I have so far:
    1) any thoughts on how would be the best way to get my bootlegs organized?? (should I add album, concert, etc... on the name??) how do you organize your boots??
    2) I have to start my bootleg collection all over (my current collection is in another pc) now that I'm going to use the office's laptop as a base... should I just copy all my mp3 files or should I start downloading .flac archives???
    3) any suggestions on how to add the album cover to my existing cd's?? itunes is asking me to purchase the album cover, or something like that... I think it's not fair....

    Well I'm open to suggestions...
thanks for all the help mates!!!

    1. Organize them by date, venue, etc.... exactly as it appears at the top of the bootleg page. That's how I do it I like it because it organizes them in chronological order (ex. "2006-12-09 - Honolulu, Hawaii - Aloha Stadium")

    3. Make sure that the album is spelled exactly as it appears in the iTunes store. Then, right click the item, and click "Get Album Artwork"

    thanks Nick!!
is it ok for they to charge me for the album cover???
    thanks!!!

  10. They should never charge for a cover
Have fun with your ipod-I have the same model

  11. Charge you? Hell no. I'm not charged when I do it Just find a relatively large picture of the album cover online, copy it, then paste it in the "Artwork" section of the "Get Info" (it should be the last one on the right)

You're welcome Johnny, I hope that I can be of some help!

    Bootleg organization:

    Edit item info:

(You probably don't need this one.. but whatever) Add album artwork:

You probably don't need these pics to help you, but too much help I guess can't be a bad thing.
