    Unfortunately unlikely outside the 12 month mark. Is there an Apple Store near you? that would be the best bet as they may be able to offer some advice.

    An electronics device should last longer than 16 months. They may replace it depending on whenever the dead pixels started showing up. However, considering the classic is supposedly going to be phased out come September, they may not replace it and take your money for a new one.


    Hey everybody! I have a question regarding the iPhone 3Gs. Does anyone know how long the lithium-ion battery lasts before starting to lose functionality? I know that the time will eventually get shorter and shorter between charges, so I would like to know if I should get the 3Gs or the regular 3G (only 8 GB, but it's better than nothing.)

    My mom and I went to the beach a couple of days ago. We had a lot of things to carry, so I put my iPod touch and headphones in my pocket. I eventually went in the water. However, I was in there for at least twenty minutes before realizing that my iPod was still with me. The iPod is dead, but amazingly, my Sennheiser CX-400s still work perfectly. I decided that it would be better to purchase a new one, as it was out dated and only held 8 GB.

    Thanks in advance for any insight regarding the battery.



    Lithium-ion batteries last around 500 charges before they start losing their full charge. At this point, lots of people are getting nine hours with everything switched off on the new iPhones, which is kind of pathetic for that price and that technology. But you need to recalibrate it each time, meaning let it lose charge once a month and charge it fully from there to get the best use out of it.

    Wait until the 3.1 software and see if the battery issues are fixed.

  5. I recently got a Iphone 3GS and am finding the audio quality to be quite unimpressive compared to my tiny old Samsung K3. It just lacks some dynamism, like for example the beginning of NLOTH2, at around the 12 second mark when the rhythm kicks in, has much less punch on my iphone, which affects a song like NLOTH2 a lot.

    And I haven't fiddled around with the EQ settings on either device so its not that.

    I'm using the same earphones (Creative EP-630s, I detest the iphone pack in earphones) for both as well.

    The only explanation I can think of (besides the iphone having a shitty decoder, which would be ridiculous) is that my iphone case stops the jack on my headphones going all the way in.

    But that shouldn't make a difference right? Cause i've done a few comparisions with the case on and off and any difference is likely down to the placebo effect.

    Anyone have similar problems?

    Also do you like the start menu tiles or title bar layout? I just don't like the bit where you see your hidden icons in the jump out box. They should allow you to use the old Vista way which looked much better or use that one - I'm sure I'll get used to it though.

    Most people know the iPhone and iPods have terrible sound quality. I always found leaving EQ off works best. The reason being that Apple sees the iPod targeted towards casual listeners (e.g. top 40 and hot song of the moment) and so they don't bother with decent audio hardware.

    For the count, the old 80s record transfers sound the best.

    After the touch I have now dies, I'll be getting something with way better sound quality and unreliant on iTunes.

    I always leave EQ off as well. But I can't believe this is true, I mean iPod is like THE mp3 player. It can't be this popular whilst doing its core function so badly. And the iPhone has more than enough juice to outdo a $100 Samsung player at audio decoding.

    It's a shame looks take over functionality isn't it?

    Just because it has more output than other players, doesn't mean it's any better. What would be nice is an equaliser.
  9. think i'll have to buy this. Probably gonna run Windows 7, HD screen, HDMI port, GPS, 3G modem built in, SD card reader, 12hr battery life, machined from a solid bloock of aluminium. . . and its a Nokia!!

    Though with that spec I would be amazed if they priced it at £400 oor below. Probably pick it up for free with a mobile broadband contract though

    Looks cool, right now I'm satisfied with my notebook but I hate the plastic. Becomes ugly when you use it a lot.
