    no interest in gaming on the PC. Just need a good powerful machine. HD video editing etc would required, hdmi port. DL dvd burner (possibly blu ray) and a thumping big harddrive.

    Some of the big-name brands like Acer etc charge way too much for what they're offering in desktops (and laptops).

    I'd go for one custom-built - then you can pick what you want and don't want, rather than a company just sticking in bits and pieces like a biometric scanner (why?) and catering to the masses who don't know any better, buying something worth $2000 and then using it for word processing and email - I know many of them. But on those, make sure you get at least a year's warranty or more if you can get it for cheap.

    Just have a look around and if you think it's decent value and build, go for it. I recently got my laptop hooked up to HDMI on a new plasma screen - the way to go, I say.


    There are beautiful 'skins' for it. Its the most customizable player i know

    It's ugly as hell at first, but when you get to figure out how powerful the thing is - and there's plenty of help around - it's amazing. That's what puts people off straight away. It doesn't look as good as iTunes or WinAmp at first to them. That's because they want something plug and play. No fun just installing and using.

    Firefox is the second most-customisable around. Everything can basically be changed.
  3. Then a simple onboard graphics chip will do more than fine. Most video editing programs still rely on processor power than graphic card power.

    Asrock A780GXH/128M motherboard (includes Ati Hd3200 + HDMI port, and 7.1 audio etc)
    AMD Phenom 2 940 AM2+ 3000 Quadcore processor
    4GB Ram
    Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400W (power supply)
    Hitachi 1 TB SAT2 HDT721010 (harddrive)
    Samsung 22x DL SATA SH-S223B BlB (DVD burner)

    Although there are newer quadcores that maybe a better choice quality wise. There a lot of brands and a lot of options that may save you a few bucks.

    If you are a student you could check if you can get a Windows license for free (saves you around 30-100 euro's). I did and Windows 7 works fabulous out of the box.

    you guys need to get a Sansa Clip for your music. Sounds insanely good and plays lossless. A beauty


    I know the touch has pretty crap audio - the Sansa would be better with 192Kbps MP3 even?

    Double is the price here of 2TB in comparison with 1TB. Anyway its just one brand, depends on retailer which one is cheaper.

  9. Didnt use it for 2 years. Just plugged it into my laptop and as it appears, it works again. Body is damaged due to the crash but I'm still happy with it. Beautiful device.
