Audacity has problems with certain MP3-encoded files. Were they with iTunes or from here?

Just joking. I'm a fan of mp3DirectCut for splitting and/or quick fadings, and for major edits I use Nero WaveEditor.
Anyway, that problem sounds like a codecs issue, Wayne. Look on the help pages, it might help too.
