Windows 7 released today. Is anybody remotely excited or underwhelmed?

Running it for some months (RC and RTM). Being a student has it advantages I dont want to go back. It definitely the best OS launched till this date. Worth every buck.

There is a family pack that gives you 3 licenses for 130 euro (like Apple has). But I think most people will just get it on their new pc.

This is how Vista should have been!
  3. I saw an ad on the TV earlier where one store was doing it $120 cheaper than the other. I have to say from when I was running it worked very well and things just worked, I couldn't say the same for Vista.

It should have been Vista from day one.

There are many very useful improvements. Try the Windows key and an arrow key together. Also the taskbar is Magnificent. I never had such clean taskbar with so many open programs.

It also stays very responsive and boots and logins pretty fast

Good to hear, have to find out myself soon. At my Windows XP-laptop now..
  9. Updating to Windows 7 later on today, now this is my first update...what exactly happens to my files and programs?

I feel like an idiot for asking since the answer might be so simple.

    Steve

  10. A lot of students can get a MSDNAA account from their university. Check https://www.ma3d.com/ and try to create an account using your email account of the university.

After a work day or two you will have access to the sweet stuff for free

I'd advice creating a backup of your documents and do a clean install. Because upgrading isnt as good as a clean install. Also an upgrade is only possible from the same Vista edition. Upgrading from XP is not possible (It will remove all data then).
