It's jailbroken so I can't just update the firmware through iTunes, I'm not quite sure what to do.
Apparently you update the firmware and then just jailbreak it again, but that seems risky - i'm sure there must be a way to just update with cracked versions of the official firmware.

Your carrier will always support the firmware - as long as it has the supported baseband then the firmware won't matter. I know people who haven't ever updated to even the 2.0 software (mainly because it works so they're happy) and they work fine. Nah - the thing with jailbreaking and the iPhone is you don't update unless you absolutely have to. If it works then by all means do not touch it.

I know I'll be updating to 4.0 when it comes, although if it's anything like 3.x problems then maybe not. Usually with jailbroken devices, you need to restore to a clean firmware and then update to the new firmware manually in iTunes (hold Shit and click Restore) then jailbreak again with redsn0w or QuickPwn (at least that's my experience of restoring and re-JBing in the past).

What have you got installed besides official Apple and App Store apps?

Oh, that's good, I only wanted to update because GTA Chinatown Wars isn't working - the first app I've got that doesnt work.

I have a few unofficial apps, Backgrounder, MxTube, iFile, SB Settings, Mobile Theatre, snes4iphone are the ones I use regularly

Jailbreaking really does make it twice the phone it would normally be, you can do so much more.

Strange GTA doesn't work on that firmware - you checked the requirements in iTunes?

I also install the Cydia update, NoAA and ReflectiveDock after getting iFile, Winterboard and SBSettings, and yeah, it's a far better device than if you don't jailbreak it. Hell, I could never have my custom settings and themes if I couldn't.
  4. so after selling it 2 months ago and getting the Hero, i've just ordered a new 5800.I plan on keeping the Hero until the 2.1 update but just had to have a Nokia again.

So you're gonna use two phones? lol
  6. Anyone here own a HD2? Wondering what people think, you know, everyday users as opposed to someone who tested it once.

  7. Hero is gonna be relegated to tablet PC usage until the upcoming 2.1 update. Then ill see what to do with it from there.

I was tempted. It's just too big for a phone
  9. The HD2 is probably the most useful portable internet tablet, but its biggest pro is its biggest con. The screen is huge which makes it very useful for browsing, but for me its just too big.

It is one of the best phones atm specs wise. Too bad it doesnt have any decent amount of internal storage.
  10. It is a cert to get a windows mobile 7 update though
  11. Guys, wanted to know your opinion.
So as I said I'm getting the missus (learned that from Gerard ) a new phone. The thing is that she has two lines, two SIM cards (very common here in Iran, because we have two major operators with different advantages, many people have a line from each!), and the two phones she uses for them both have problems. So I thought I'll get her two phones!

This gives me options, and I will also talk to the store that I get it from, tell them the situation so that she can change either of the phones if she prefers another model.
I'm thinking about getting her a smartphone and a feature-phone as they call it, or in other words, your usual, non-touchscreen normal mobile phone.

For the smartphone....changed my mind. I was going with the Touch2, but I just saw a video, and it's terrible!! She doesn't like big phones, so the likes of HD2 or even Hero are out. I was thinking about the Tattoo, but I'm not sure, specially as it is being advertised as the cheap version of the Hero!! What do you think? I'm looking for a touchscreen smartphone with good capabilities but with a small body.

And for the feature-phone, as she likes SE, I'm thinking of getting her the SE Yari:

What do you think? Are they both feminine enough? Are they good phones? I could specially use some help on the Touch2 as I have no idea about Windows phones.
