  1. Hero is gonna be relegated to tablet PC usage until the upcoming 2.1 update. Then ill see what to do with it from there.

  3. The HD2 is probably the most useful portable internet tablet, but its biggest pro is its biggest con. The screen is huge which makes it very useful for browsing, but for me its just too big.

    It is one of the best phones atm specs wise. Too bad it doesnt have any decent amount of internal storage.

  6. Guys, wanted to know your opinion.
    So as I said I'm getting the missus (learned that from Gerard ) a new phone. The thing is that she has two lines, two SIM cards (very common here in Iran, because we have two major operators with different advantages, many people have a line from each!), and the two phones she uses for them both have problems. So I thought I'll get her two phones!

    This gives me options, and I will also talk to the store that I get it from, tell them the situation so that she can change either of the phones if she prefers another model.
    I'm thinking about getting her a smartphone and a feature-phone as they call it, or in other words, your usual, non-touchscreen normal mobile phone.

    For the smartphone....changed my mind. I was going with the Touch2, but I just saw a video, and it's terrible!! She doesn't like big phones, so the likes of HD2 or even Hero are out. I was thinking about the Tattoo, but I'm not sure, specially as it is being advertised as the cheap version of the Hero!! What do you think? I'm looking for a touchscreen smartphone with good capabilities but with a small body.

    And for the feature-phone, as she likes SE, I'm thinking of getting her the SE Yari:



    What do you think? Are they both feminine enough? Are they good phones? I could specially use some help on the Touch2 as I have no idea about Windows phones.
  7. considering the Touch Diamon2 right now, don't know if it looks feminine enough tho, it's cut sharp edges, which makes the Touch2 and Tattoo look more feminine.

    You mean that one? I don't see it as looking feminine - but the edges are dead sharp right there. Would it be uncomfortable to hold would be my question.

    Likin' that Yari one up there too. Very cool indeed.
  9. Small, handy touchscreen. Hmm id be going for nokia. You have the 5800, 5530 or 5230. All nice and pocketable (as well as cheap). All 3 are esentially the same phone with a mix match of the same features. The 5800 has it all (wifi, gps, hdspa and all of the other bells and whistles. Screen size 3.5 inch). The 5530 drops the screen size to 2.9 inch and loses the gps but is thinner and a little more girly). The 5230 looks the same as the 5800 but drops the WiFi and also has interchangable rear covers so that the color can be changed.

    All 3 are touchscreen smartphones with access to the ovi store for apps and 2 of them come with free voice guided navigation.

    Yea, I'm thinking about Nokia too. Cause I'm not liking what I'm seeing on the HTC, except for the HD2 and the Hero which are too big. She's not a stylus fan, but she'll need it with HTC's WM devices...not cool.
    I'm gonna look into those Nokia phones, the navigation is cool, and they have recently released a fully free navigation program for Iran and Tehran, which is accurate and cool.
    The 5800 is nice, a bit old tho compared to what I was looking at from HTC, and it being cheap worries me, I don't want her to think that I tried to go cheap. The Yari would cost me around (converting to USD) $250, I had planned to spend around 600-700 for the phones, so the other could go up to 450 (like the Diamond2...but I don't like it!). The 5800 is even cheaper than the Tattoo here! The N97mini is newer and pricier...but I'm not sure about the keyboard, having a keyboard is nice, but it makes it too big.

    EDIT: wow, I like the looks and size of the 5530. And it's new enough, it's perfect except for the no-gps thing. I hear there are hands-free headphones that add GPS hardware to the phones, is that true? Do they work with the 5530?

    And Drew, yep, I'm sure about the Yari, it's a good phone with great features.

    I guess after all what matters, is it being not too old, at least released in 2009.
  11. Good value would be a better term for the 5800 than cheap. 90% of the functionality of the n97 mini for a third of the cost. There's also the x6 which is basically the mew 5800. Expensive though for little extra function

    Yea, good point. I saw the X6 too, nope, it's bigger, and the price is too much for the budget I described. Alright, I'll see what I can do, will be going shopping in 10 days, got time till then.
