1. Why no Vaio? Most of them have better build quality.

Difference between i5 and i7 is not worth the extra money. Dont know the difference with the i3 though.

Because all I've heard on the Vaios is that they're the worst computers in existence. For real. Nah, they're alright but an MSI is probably a better and cheaper choice, but are they really better choices in the long-run? Someone who's used one extensively - quiz me on Acer if you need to - might have a better opinion than me on it.

wow, that was quick drew...as always
I'm pretty great, finished my BSc in Electronics, that's what I've been busy with, just some paperwork left to do for the final marks and stuff, will be back here with full power in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the info, the laptop is for my girlfriend, she'll be using it mostly for internet, watching movies and some coding and simulation software.
MSI is cheap, and has good specs, not really good look tho...but is it trustworthy? I mean how good are they in quality?
The MBP is looking good, expensive tho, and the specs are not well round up, VAIO and MSI have better specs.
Speaking of specs, Drew, how are the i7, i5 and Core 2 Duo, compared to each other? I know the i7 is supposed to be the best. But are they really that different?
It does make a difference for her. She wants a small laptop, not a huge screen, I don't know if the 15.4" screen on the MBP is fine with her. And the 13.3" ones are all Core 2 Duo.

Awesome, was wondering when you were gonna get that done!!! Hey, good stuff, always nice to hear.

I'd be checking out that page for more on the CPUs, i5 / i7 and C2D if you wanna know: http://www.electronista.com/articles/10/01/04/core.i3.i5.and.i7.fast/ - it says they're now Quad-Core, so if she's gonna do coding and simulations, then I'd figure go as high as you can for pricing and your own usage in that.

But don't price-over-power yourself, meaning if you go for power make sure the laptop isn't gonna bust in a few weeks or whatever. Check build-quality, warranty and reviews on the internet on CNet and the like sites to see what others think.

Thanks man, helpful as always. Will look around, see what looks best

  10. Bought a pair of these. Always used in ear headphones but got a fed up with their flimsyness and lack of comfort. These things are great but I have to reprogram my ears and listening habits to acknowledge that bass isn't everything.

  11. Looking good

I prefer headphones above in ears as well. But its way to hot for them now.

  12. No such worries about the weather in Ireland. Sounding good so far. I'll leave them playing continuously for 2 days to bed them in.
