They are all hackable. I've tried out 3 custom ROM's already on this ZTE Blade (cheap as hell if you can find one). In truth though they are all pretty hackable but you are best getting something with stock android on it. All depends on what you want to pay though but look for a Blade. Perfect for playing.

HTC are notoriously slow for updates. This wee phone I got runs at 600Mhz but doesn't have to carry HTC Sense on its back so is till very nippy. Other than that (and camera - also crap on HTC's though) this wee cheapo matches a standard Desire spec for spec.
