  1. ressurect the good old disc man / portable cd player isn´t quite a poor idea... but can also find some pretty cheap mp3 players if u need

    by the way, can anybody help me find a software that i can easyly make drum beats but that the drum parts have fills and turns and i can convert it to mp3 and mix with the bass guitar and guitar i record at home?

    A lot of old tweaks and stuff won't be updated because of APIs being changed or dropped or just not worth it because of it all now being integrated into the OS.


    For the new firmwares (4.0 and higher) the absolute essentials for me would be:

    OpenSSH - transfer files from iPod via WiFi and setup iPod as server.
    OpenSSL - secure file transfers, installs along with OpenSSH
    DirectControl - show multitasking controls instead of open apps at bottom of screen
    FreeSync - change sync screen to an alert on home screen.
    NoBookmarks - stops bookmarks page from showing first when you start Safari
    NoRotationStatus - hides the rotation icon in the status bar to look cleaner
    NoSpot - hides Spotlight on home screen but not disable search in iPod
    SafariTweak - scroll up in Safari to refresh pages
    MailTweak - same as SafariTweak except for the mail app
    Winterboard - themes, custom lockscreens etc
    Activator - custom swipe actions such as swipe status bar to change track etc
    TVTube - goes into sleep mode in the old TV-tube style
    YourTube - download YouTube videos to watch offline in both low and high-res
    PopupBlocker - block certain popups such as low battery etc

    You mean that you want a program that lets you export a click-track (e.g. more or less a mp3-exportable metronome) or a full drum track?
  7. just found out that i'll be getting a 'free' (not really free since ur paying tuition fees, but im not complaining since its mine to keep) iPad from uni when we go back, its a trial to see if it improves student learning, our textbooks are gona be available as ebooks and all the lecture notes and slides will be available too.

    ... so does anyone here have an iPad, what r they like, ive never even played with one in a store

    They done that at a local university in Edinburgh, gave away iPads to 'improve student learning'. The students just sold the iPads and got better laptops.

    Yeah, I've played around with one when I was in America, and it's just a huge iPod touch to me. Nothing special.

    Yeah, I've played around with one when I was in America, and it's just a huge iPod touch to me. Nothing special.


    They look great for music production except one problem: there aren't enough ports for doing different kinds of instruments e.g. synths, drums etc, no way I can overlay instruments the way I'd like to and no way to really record and multi-track without having to resort to either emailing or drop-boxing it every time.

    Plus touch-screen for doing intricate selection on certain parts is near impossible. That's why for music I'll be sticking to a laptop and mouse setup. The games on it aren't even as good as they could be - no Lemmings or any old point-and-click style games like the very first Alone In The Dark or Theme Hospital.
