1. Hey guys, need some advice.
It's been a while since the last time I upgraded my desktop pc, so I'm not much aware of what's on the market..
If I go through with this and do the upgrade, I want a good system that can serve me for a few years. So...the main question for me is what's a good CPU these days? What other suggestions do you have?
  2. Depends what you want to do with it. Good base specs, any half-decent CPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, Blu-ray reader and DVD burner combo...
  3. Wondering what the CES in Barcelona will bring. HTC and Samsung will introduce new smartphones, most likely the HTC Desire 2 and a new Samsung Galaxy S with dualcore processor. 2011 is the year of tablets and dualcore smartphones.
  4. I predict lots and lots of similar looking Android devices.

  5. +1

Wonder what Nokia will announce. Rumors about Nokia going for Android or Nokia co-operating with Microsoft for WP7-phones.

Don't think Nokia will be there. They have their own gig at a different venue. Nokia/Android will not happen. Slip chance of a WP7 device to try and get a short term gain in the US though. I suspect though that Nokia may just use bing as the default search provider on their handsets. Find out on the 11th.

Yes they're not on CES but they have a press conference somewhere else at the same time. But we'll find out indeed. Don't see them doing Android either. The market is already flooded with it.
  8. True. I am off Android completely. Too many OEMs have became too reliant on it and I am certain that bubble will bust. Too many handsets means a price war and the low end Android market is already huge. HTC, Motorola and Sony Ericsson will suffer in a few years.

I think Android, WP7, iOS and Symbian, which makes a surprise comeback if I hear the stories, will remain. There are a lot of low-end Androids on the market and there are more coming. Android might become the new Symbian in the low-end, together with Symbian itself.

I don't know what Google will come up with in the coming years, it will be interesting to see. The four earlier mentioned operating systems will dominate the market anyway. WP7 is still in its early phase, iOS gets more competition, Symbian makes a comeback and Android is still in development and always will be.

I like the Android-system I have, it's a farcry from Symbian S60. Don't know what my next phone will be but I'll stick with this Desire HD for the coming 12 months or so anyway.
  10. Android wins either way as a platform but I don't see any manufacturers doing too well with it. Certainly no other manufacturer will challenge Nokia. Android will sell at the high and low ends but there will be too many manufacturers trying to get ever thinner slices of the pie.

True, and then their models don't sell themselves anymore because there are simply to many of them. The high-end models will survive though. Only Samsung and HTC challenge iOS with Android. Sony Ericsson isn't there (yet).
