    if it has a standard dock connector then it should fit. Bose supply little adapters but none fitted my Classic (i'm assuming they only provide for ipods up to and including the first video) but my Classic sits in it fine.

  3. my iPod seems to be screwed again. I had to do a manual reset as the fecking thing froze after I ejected it from my computer. The apple logo came up as normal but instead of bringing me to the main menu the logo remains then the hard-drive makes a 'tick' sound then dies then reboots, shows the logo then 'tick' then dead over and over and over. Feck
  4. Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
    Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
    When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.

    If not contact Apple and get them to replace it. Should be replaced under ELF (early life failure).

  7. Ridiculous. Didn't one already stuff up on you? So it looks like so far from what I saw (over at the forums), you had:

    An error 69, stuck on manual reset and poor sound and low volume

    So much for Apple telling you it was fixed. Where did Apple's QA go to? India or China?

    Sounds like a dead hard drive connector or leakage to the motherboard or hard drive. If you hear a tick of any kind the drive is still alive but not working as it should.

    Rather than that you should have said you'd like a new one in the packaging or credit for a new one at a store.

    they guy on the phone was pretty sound. Didn't run me through the whole troubleshooting thing and didnt ask dumb questions like 'did you purchase your music from itunes?' No I didn't but is that relevant to a hard-drive failure?

    That's a good start. Some are complete knobs but others are pretty good on their subject. If you tell them the iPod has failed and that it's just resetting in a loop then they won't run you through (cause you're pretty peeved off anyway and can't be bothered listening to instructions). As a general rule, when I get something new I never bother reading the manuals. Just get straight into it and if it doesn't work the right way only then do I read the manual. I think they've given you a refurbished one - or is it your original?

    At most computer and repair shops, what they'll do is get your system set up and going, then they leave it going for 24 hours and not touching it - the right thing to do would be to actually play with it and then say "Oh that's the problem".

    I remember someone told me about their new video iPod that the woman said at the Apple Store that it's likely unless all music is purchased from iTunes that you got a virus. Uhhhhh - MP3s can't get viruses. Windows Media files can but not MP3s.
