1. I think screen protectors will work like shite for the Lumia. Gerard, I'm surprised by your experience. I strongly recommend to use a screen protector when using touchscreens, I scratched my Nokia 5800's screen in no time, just carrying it on my trousers pocket. The screen was shit after 2 weeks of non-screenprotector use. I can't speak about the N8 screen resistance, though, as it has wore a protector since the very first day I got it. But those get scrathed easily as well, I change them every 3 or 5 weeks (and I suppose that each one of those scratched protectors would otherwise mean a scratch or two in the actual screen).
  2. The 5800 is an exception as it had a soft resistive layer. The N8 was a tank and the toughened glass never gave in ever. The Lumia is a bit riskier as it has a special coating on top of the glass that gives it a smooth feel and the seems to scratch. I already have one considerable scratch that annoys me but I think it's only this top layer and not the glass itself.

I just hate cases and if the screen protector doesn't fit perfect then I'll go without.
  3. Just be careful with it. There isn't a single scratch on my HD2 screen. Whenever its not in use, it's in a leather pouch. Had it now for approaching two years. Admittedly, there is some slight wear on the back key but that's it.
  4. Yes, Tim, leather covers or pouches are definitely the way for protecting the phones the most, but many people (Gerard, for example) prefer the touch of the bare phone instead of a leather cover or something... I don't care, as long as my gizmo is properly protected! I've got several different covers for the iPod Touch and for the N8 and I swap them every week or 10 days.
  5. Yes, I also like the feel of the stock device hence no screen protector or physically attached case. The pouch is there to protect it when it's in my pocket, when the feel of the phone is a little pointless. Other times I just have the phone out of the pouch sitting on top of it. Almost acts as a little cushion for the phone to rest on so it doesn't have the back or camera scratched on the desk or other hard surface.
  6. I want another N8. Can get one free on £10 per month. Bargain
  7. You sold yours, Gerard?
  8. Yea I sold mine when I got the Lumia but miss it dearly. I will continue to use the Lumia but have the N8 for odds and ends. I want to try Belle out too when it arrives in February.
  9. the N8 is a beautiful piece of technology. The best phone I have had in my life. I'm definitely keeping it when the replace moment comes
  10. that Sony Ericsson Xperia ray.... is it any good? tempted to get it with a new mobile contract.

  11. Middle of the road android. Nice on the eye. If you aren't a snobby geek and it isn't overly expensive then its a winner.

  12. all I need is a mobile that works, and isn't as crappy as my current utterly cheap Samsung
I can get it for 15,- per month with that contract, sounds good. I think I'll get it. Don't care for the latest technology or most stylish design. let's try it. Thanks, Gerard
