1. I've asked it on the Photo thread as well, but it actually belongs here so here I go:

Does the SD-card class really matter? I mean, everyone raves about their class 6 or class 10 cards, but I've never worried about it and I've been fine for years. Does anyone care to explain to me why should I spend the double on a class 10 instead of my old, resilient class-X (it doesn't even specificate) that's worked fine for years?
  2. If it works then it works.
  3. Yeah some would run slower due to the format or whatever wouldn't they.
  4. It's important if you're going to film in HD or slow motion or the likes of that... then you might need a fast card if you don't want any frames dropped. I have a class 10 card for my camera that shoots in slow motion. I had some trouble with my other card when I once used that for slow motion.

And of course.. for phones it can be important for them to work well.

Class 10 (and even faster, classification doesnt go higher than 10) is really cheap nowadays. Bought a 32GB for 20 euro's couple of weeks back.

For shooting 1 pic at a time it doesnt really matter, but burst and video may not work well with slow cards.
  6. All class 10 guarantees is that the card is able to UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, write at a rate of at least 10 MB/s.

Some cards easily get 40 MB/s now.
  7. Technology is always more expensive in Spain And I don't want to spend 20€ in a card and then 10€ in getting it shipped here Anyway, class 6 should be fine, I'm not going to film full-HD but 720p most of the times.

By the way, my computer is having serious trouble rendering a 58-minutes 720p... I need a faster processor and more RAM memory asap
  8. Even with fullhd 6 MB/s is enough. Bluray quality is around 5 MB/s But sometimes you might notice that you cant take a pic quickly because the last file is still being written to the card.
  9. Yeah, prices on SD cards have dropped so low. I got my 32GB Class 10 microSD card for around 20 euros.
  10. Yeah, i mean its really nothing for 32 GBs
