There are stores in town where you can carry your eBay/similar bought screen and they'll replace it for you (let's assume the screen costed you 20$, then the whole thing will be around 50$ indeed); others won't and they want to use their own screens (that'll be more expensive, they make you pay for the service fee plus the screen - 75 or even 100$ might be your final cost). If you're not keen on replacing the screen by yourself, take your time and look for a decent store where they cheaply replace it for you. It won't be easy to find, but you'll do eventually
  3. Well I've most of the day tomorrow so I'm gonna be out early to get it done.

    The screen is just getting too hard to see especially when your eyesight is getting progressively worse due to light and other problems.

    As for 'bring your own screen', I didn't know you could do that. That's actually a good idea but dependent on the cost and the turn-around time (given I got the phone for next-to-nothing anyway) I might just use theirs. Plus they may or may not allow that anyway and it'd be wasted time and expense on my part. I'm certainly able to replace screens but I'll see anyway what happens.

  5. Anyway you're probably right. eBay purchases use to take around 14-20 days to arrive at home so maybe you're best trying to get it replaced instantly at some tech store (assuming they have Xperia Arc replacement screens there).
  6. Most things I've ordered from China, Hong Kong, Sweden, California etc - you name it, I've likely bought from there - take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. And then you run the risk of getting the entirely wrong item even though you bought the right one.

    That's happened a couple of times. Not sure if this is an Arc, I keep reading it's an X10 or something like that. No idea, I'm upgrading from a Huwaei to this new Xperia.

  11. Cant believe how often you switch phones =P Am about to buy a new laptop, i7, 8GB, FullHD screen to replace my 5 yr old Dell D830 :/

    Laptop should be able to run Mac OS X as well, might want to pick up developping iOS apps.

  12. Same as mine then! Prepare yourself for the worst synch software ever. Just drag songs and that directly from iTunes to the phone connected as a hard drive. I even got the covers last time I did that.

    You'll have to use that shitware for upgrading to Android 4 if it isn't upgraded though.
