I had a similar problem with the N8 a while ago, but it was whatsapp causing problems (I had phone>wifi priority instead of wifi>phone, so when I wasn't using it, whatsapp automatically disconnected me from the wifi). But it was my fault, not the device's, and the fix was 2 clicks away.
