I had a similar problem with the N8 a while ago, but it was whatsapp causing problems (I had phone>wifi priority instead of wifi>phone, so when I wasn't using it, whatsapp automatically disconnected me from the wifi). Huwaei aren't too bad, that's the last phone I had. Not too fast, not too slow...really works quite well if not for the keyboard that was a little small. The only complaint I had about it.
