You're making perfect sense. As Ali pointed out, you need a printer that's able to print on printable CDs. The result of home-printed CDs can vary from staggeringly amazing to staggeringly awful. And that print-on material can be pretty expensive on general shops.
My advice: you're best getting it printed at a photocopy shop/room for you, rather than doing it yourself
