I couldn't justify having 3 iPods at once. I'd only ever be buying the touch as a gimmick. It's too impractical for me (can't change volume or switch songs whilst its in your pocket etc). I'd love to own one but that amount of money buys quite a few driving lessons

I haven't heard the hiss yet in the pod but I guess if it's this bad if so many people are complaining. The next update from 1.1 now to 1.1.1 is out.

I've started driving lessons too, and no gadgets for a few months.
  3. Wondering what any of you think of this?

    Looks pretty slick.

    It does. Is it Unix?

Am I right in seeing that you have multiple desktops down on the right there? Crazy...

  8. The Top 10 Reasons iPod Owners Use Those White Bud Earphones.

    10. Too cheap to buy a new pair.

    9. After splurging on an iPod, they have no money for better earphones.

    8. White is the new black.

    7. They simply aren't aware that their iPod is compatible with other earphones.

    6. They honestly think that they are good earphones.

    5. The earphones that they bought to replace the white bud earphones broke, and they are just using the white buds until they get a new and better pair of earphones.

    4. It's an intregal part of the Apple iLifestyle.

    3. The white earphones and cord contrast nicely with the dark colours that they are wearing.

    2. They look sleek, modern and cool!

    1. They feel the need to let everyone know they have an iPod. After all, what would the point be of having an iPod if everyone didn't know it?

  9. 6. They honestly think that they are good earphones.

This is the most common reason on my experience

Correct. And for that you need foo_burninate plugin which is free to download, do a search for it.

Pop it in C:\Program Files\Foobar2000\components\ and then add all the FLAC files into Foobar's window, then right-click on the Files > Utilities > Write Audio CD. Done.

Linux, based on Unix. Very, very cool, and I do like the multiple desktops bit too.

  12. Well, I just updated to iPod classic firmware 1.1.1. Am I happy? Surprisingly, yes.

    Pros

Some extra options in Movies for Movie Rentals, Alternate Audio, Captions, Subtitles
CoverFlow is bloody fast now, 25 album covers actually load within two seconds
The volume scroll lag is fixed - you can scroll the volume up and down without lag
Much better font style for CoverFlow - the whole title of the album actually fits
The sound seems to have improved a little - not much but better than 1.0.3

    Cons

No custom equalizers as of yet - Treble Reducer sounds about the best
The menu split-screen is still there as is the Screensaver after five minutes

I reckon another firmware update or two and we should be set.
