  1. I think my main A/V receiver is on its way out. I can replace it fairly easily, but what if it doesn't sound exactly the same? This amp + these EQ settings + these headphones = The world's best audio. No questions asked. And no, I can't replace like for like. This amp is from 1991. Bought by my dad and I believe the first album it played was the freshly released Achtung Baby.

    Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised...
  2. The headphones aren't changing so that should be grand. Possible to match the EQ through trial and error?

    What's failing exactly? The jack input/output or the internal circuitery?

  4. Well, I use it for everything. All of the I/O is pretty much filled up, and in the last few months 2 of those ports have failed. I had to do some crazy rerouting to get the GTA V (on the Xbox) to have audio, since its port had failed. Occasionally it will refuse to turn on, and sometimes turn itself off. I've fixed amps and various other things in the past, usually it's nothing more than soldering on some new capacitors, but it's so old that no one on the web has any specifics, and I don't really fancy replacing every capacitor on the PCB.

    Nevertheless, if there's some switching on/off problems, you might be able to know which capacitors need changing (those surrounding the power modules). Try it, you have nothing to lose and much to win

  8. I really do like my iPhone 5, best phone I've ever had, however I have to replace it for the second time in a year.. First a broken power button and now a 'no service' issue which appears to be a hardware problem. Lucky we have 2 year warranty in Holland.
  9. Googles All Access spotify rival seems good. Trialling it for a month before the £10 monthly fee applies but their catalogue seems huge and anything can be downloaded to the device for offline playback. Stays on there until your subscription lapses. Can definitely see myself taking in more music now.

    Either people are becoming more rude towards their phones, or they're being made more flimsy, but LOTS of people have reported their iP5s crashing or breaking much more easily than 4s and 3s. Not a good thing. Having to use your warranty twice in less than a year means the device is not reliable at all.
  11. The 5 didn't have the heft or solidity of the 4 which is why I never liked it. It just felt too light in the hand. I fear I'm stuck on Android forever.
