1. What sort of stuff do you have, like external hard drives, CD/DVD burner etc? I usually just copy the files over or burn straight to disc. I've never bothered with the Windows Backup wizard program, because I find that sometimes the files become corrupted through that way.

Thanks for the comments as well - it kinda becomes annoying reading through shitloads of text. Actually the same thing has happened to me; but through XP. I did the System Restore to a way earlier date and it was all good again - but never underestimate the importance of backups. Once it's gone, it's gone unless you can recover it somehow.

    Good luck!
  2. OK. I Have a CD/DVD Drive. I'll look into the external drives. I need to get ready for the day now... I'll be back In a little while. You know you listen to too much U2 when you describe when you will return to the forum w/ a song. Back on subject...

Anywhere from $100 for maybe 200GB to $300 for around 750GB.

If you've only got less than 15GB worth of stuff, I'd go DVD if you have some spare, but it's completely up to you.
  4. I don't have anything in my house... crap. I'll do some shopping on the laptop later.
  5. If you have any problems, I'll be here to help you out as will others.
  6. Greatly Appreciated!
  7. Do you know what system restore gets rid of (as far as software)? I know it gets rid of files. For example, does it delete my wireless router settings, or IE?
  8. Now the start menu bar and desktop icons just go away and pop back up every 30 seconds or so.

Okay, that's weird. I'd be taking it to somewhere to show them and see what they can do, or if need be, reinstalling / repairing Windows. When did it start happening?

Nice!!!) computer because his parents purchased him a 20" MacBook Pro. Thank you, for your help sooo much though. It was really nice of you giving me that much help. I wasn't expecting a turn out as elabrate, clear or as helpful that. Thank you. Even though I didn't go through w/ the whole opperation . Thats only because I was always not at home. I always get on about 20 mins before I hit the hay. Good night! ... that smily is yawning, right? Lets just pretend.

He's a good friend - Home Premium is nice too. If you ever need any more help, you know what to do.

And thanks for the compliments - it's made my day.
