  6. I found this amazing of what a $100 laptop could do. The idea is to provide kids who have never used technology in their lives (e.g. mobiles, music players, computers) to give them a sense of being able to use technology.

    It uses pretty basic specs (450MHz AMD Geode CPU, 256MB RAM, 1GB flash memory) and runs completely on open-source software like OpenOffice.org, Linux, Firefox. And it even comes with WiFi, three USB2.0 ports, video-camera and over 16 hours of hours of battery life.

    Which dollars are we talking - American or Australian? Still seems quite a bargain for what it's offering to the right market to me

  10. the original idea was that you buy one for yourself then buy one for a child in the developing world. Wouldn't that child and their parents prefer a few bottles of water though over this?
