The file size. FLAC is usually 25% - 50% less than what a wave file is. Wave files are always 1411Kbps regardless (the bit rate of a true audio CD) but FLAC can be 700-900Kbps depending on what level of FLAC you choose from 0-8. Usually I go about FLAC2 depending on how good the original CD was encoded.
And yep, they both are indeed lossless. I prefer FLAC because of the size. Wave is only good if I want a true to form audio rip of a new CD.
