  1. You all kowthat U2 is one, or maybe the, richess band in the world. And that Bono is at theh ead of an economic empire know as U2 Limited.

    He has been criticised (sorry fot the mistke I just forgot how to spell that word). Mainly because of the evasion of his compagny to Amsterdam.

    As U2 fans, what do you think of this ?

    I personnally don't have anyproblems with it but i'm seeking you're opnion.

  2. Personally, as long as they keep producing great music for us and tour so we can see them, I couldn't give a rats arse what else they do and how they look after their money. They still pay huge amounts of tax in Ireland for many things and give huge amounts of money and time to other charitable causes.
    They've worked bloody hard for 30 years so why begrudge them the trappings of their success?
    You can guarantee that if it was us about to be taxed heavily, we'd do everyhting we could to avoid it - the scale is just different, but no less valid, in my opinion.

  3. we talked about this before. Business is business. If they are going to get taxed way less in Amsterdam than they are here then why not move. I can see why Bono may get criticised for this move but that criticism will only come from people who misunderstand Bono's cause. Bono doesn't want people to give charity to these countries, he wants the richest countries to relieve the strangling debts that the developing world owes to them and to open avenues for trade. Good move U2ltd.

    Lewis Hamilton is also moving out of Britain to escape the 40% tax rule that he would have to fork out for. Had he stayed in Britain he'd have to pay 4 million in taxes next year. So fair play to him to.

    40% tax? That's quite a bit.

    Agree wholeheartedly. Business and music are separarte endeavors; I think they've done an excellent job, better than almost every band past or present, at recognizing this and keeping the two separate. When their monetary pursuits begin to interfere with their music and/or showmanship (though I really don't see how it could), then we've got a problem. I honestly think they're much too smart and too dedicated to let that happen.

    Drew - you pay 40% tax here if you earn £34k or more. Obviously you only pay it on what you earn above £34k. Its 22% before that.
