Because your posts don't make any common sense...for me at least. Or you must be some kind of philosopher...
  6. I know there is a largely accurate posting but it does contain a few errors. Here are the lyrics to Wave of Sorrow (Bridland) exactly as printed in the book that comes with the Joshua Tree Box set. It's worth noting one important difference is line 4 which is 'give them a way' not 'give them away', kind of changes the whole point of the verse.

Heat haze rising on Hell’s own hill
To wake up this morning took an act of will
You walked through the night to get to today
To bring your children to give them a way [note: ‘a way’ not ‘away’]

    Oh, oh this cruel sun
    Its daylight never done
    Cruelty just begun
To make a shadow of everyone

    And if the rain came
And if the rain came now

Souls bent over without a breeze
    Blankets on burning trees
    I’m sick without disease
    Nobility on its knees

    And if the rain came
    And if the rain came
    Now

Would it wash us all away
    On a wave of sorrow
    A wave of sorrow

    Where now the holy cities
Where all the ancient holy scrolls
    Where now the Emperor Menelik
And the Queen of Sheba’s gold
You my bride wear her crown
On your finger a precious stone
Has every gold thing now been sold

Oh son of shepherd boy now king
    What wisdom can you bring
    What lyric could you sing
Where is the music of the seraphim

    And if the rain came
And if the rain came now
Would it wash us all away
    On a wave of sorrow
A wave, a wave of sorrow

Blessed are the meek who scratch in the dirt
For they shall inherit what’s left of the earth
Blessed are the kings who have left their thrones
They are blessed in the valley of dry bones
Blessed are you with an empty heart
For you have nothing from which you cannot part
Blessed is the ego if it’s all we’ve got this hour
Blessed is the voice that speaks truth to power
Blessed is the sex worker’s body sold tonight
She works with what she’s got to save her children’s life
Blessed are the deaf who cannot hear her screams
Blessed are the stupid who can dream
Blessed are the tin can cardboard slums
And blessed is the spirit that overcomes

Fair point there about 'a way'. Never caught on to that myself
  8. seems like it should have been on the still haven't found single after deep in the heart has kida the same beat & Tempo to it!!! both of those are excellent
  9. I think that this song is to highlight the noble ancestry of the ancient people who are now living in poverty in Africa and to make us connect with these people as they stood in the world in the past. And to change the feelings that sometimes exist that the reason for poverty is lazyness and warmongering.
I may be wrong but I really do think that 'give them away' is the correct understanding of this line because I know that when Bono was in Africa in the 1980's the thing that had so much impact on him was a man who tried to give him his child. But knowing how clever he is with words he could be using a pun on words to completely twist the meaning. (Who knows)

  10. All I can say is I hope this song is on their next album... just plung it in on u-tube bono explains what the meaning of this song is... ~WAVE OF SORROW~It's a sick ass song

i would say this will definitely not be on the next album, as it is technically a Joshua Tree song, and I don't see them including an older song a new album. Even though is a "new" old song. Great song btw, Bono is in top form lyrically and vocally
