  4. Something that we spoke about not too long ago but not since this gift announcement is the idea of releasing gigs from the past in dvd. I wonder if this has now opened the door to that. I know the show still would have to have been taped/filmed to a reasonable extent but you would think everything pre zoo tv wouldn’t have required too many cameras to properly capture the show and then there’s a few other shows that were broadcast or parts of were broadcast so they might have full footage of some zoo tv shows and later too. Could the South American tv broadcasts from Popmart and vertigo tour for example be contenders? Zoo tv Stockholm and Washington too? These could be cool future subscriber gifts and could easily be made exclusive to subscribers without needing a commercial release.

    I'd certainly be way less annoyed if the sub gift was a DVD release of an older show that we've never had, and that was never filmed in a quality that would make a blu-ray release necessary/favourable.

    Yes, if the sub gift was the ZooTV Stockholm gig on DVD, but with cleaned up picture - I'd have subscribed the instant they announced it.

    But making the gift a newer show that we know will come out in 4k eventually, and having it be released on DVD when the subscription is 50 USD - that's not cool lol.

    I sometimes wonder how long they think they can keep thing in archives?! Until most of the fan base is old enough to lose interest?

    Joshua Tree DVD or 8k Blu-ray will sell anyway anytime... but Chicago BluRay, u23d Blu-ray or this 2018 footage in 5years most people will not care at all

    We have to welcome what is given, an rejoice they didn’t treat us with 75minute band curated DVD from Berlin ... that would be a real f@€@ sign fromLN to us

    I'm fairly certain they have been distancing themselves from their earliest work. However, some updates have happened over time to pre released material

    I agree with you. Old shows would be nice gifts. Since 1993, every tour has an officially launched show. I am sure that if it were Paul Macguinnes was their manager, he would not allow this action. , he would not allow this action.

    The Pop and Vertigo broadcasts in Latin America were strategic, as they were fundamental to the emergence of a new bigger generation of fans for U2, who saw the shows in 2006 as children and were able to go in 2017.

    Today, only those who pay for the shows watch, and only those who subscribe to the site have access to the DVD. I do not believe that Berlin´18 will still release commercially.

    That last bit isn’t quite right. The full Paris show from 2015 is available on YouTube and 75 minutes of the Berlin is available as well on there all for free and I’m sure the full Berlin gig will end up there soon as well. So fans aren’t missing out at all. Yes if it’s subscriber only then there will be less people with a physical release this time I’m sure but non subscribers can hardly complain at getting a show for free when subscribers are having to pay £30 (renewal amount) to watch the same thing. If it’s all about people missing out on the physical item then you could say they shouldn’t be releasing big box sets either because not every fan can afford them.

    Hi deanallison. Do you mean is the rich fans can have physical media, and poor fans can have only show on Youtube? Do you think right a fan segregation? All fans have the right to go to a store and buy their favorite band's show. I can pay 50 dollars, but I will not do this. This DVD does not have this value. If this DVD would sold for $ 20 its be very fair. I would pay $ 50 for a BluRay/4K.

    And all of us know that they are not to release this commercially. If they do, I will be very surprised.
