And this is it for us isn't it? Us god-shaped-vacancies (apply-within), birdmen on 53, party girls and boys in need of stories. The big bang, the colors comin out after the flood. Who pushed who over? It matters to me. Am I ranting? Absolutely. What am I talkin bout? The new album of course.
I'm sure its been discussed to bits but we're a month away from the year I believe (and I believe FOR you!) will be the release of the greatest U2 album ever and, consequently, the Greatest Album Ever. And consequently, greatest tour ever. We're on the eve of a something huge.
All the talk and magic of the sessions are compared to the best of the best by everyone. Lanois, Edge, Eno, Bono...everyone talks about the spirit of Achtung and Joshua. The Sgt. Pepper's Club elite of yootoo fans. More rock, less rock? Who cares. The goal is soul and there's an electric storm running through everything to do with the band that didn't seem to be there before the last album. One more christmas tree, some fireworks, maybe a birthday cake and bam!...well, maybe throw in a summer holiday too.
With extraordinary work coming out (for anyone who cares) we have Coldplay's (possibly) defining work coming (recent graduates from the school of Eno afterall), new Robbie Williams album (with Guy chambers again? Yessir. And 'Bodies' sounds fantastic) and the much longed for return to sound for the Killers. And aren't those Gallagher's up to something? Plus we got Casino Royale and Batman sequels coming out...oh yes, 2008 will be a very good year. But the defining moment's gonna be our boys, i know it. You know it. They'll show it.
I'm off on a trip around the world (no, im not running from the law.....ok, maybe i'm running from the law), so this is to everyone else who can see what love has done, to all the neon hearts and dayglo eyes. Cheers and merry christmas. See you in the best f*cking year we've had in years

(oh and check this guy out. Yootoo fans are way talented. See Remy? There's a reason I posted here. I'm not a complete mindless drunk* )
