Don't think so. Is there anything U2 can not get nowadays? They can play any stadium they want, they can join any conference, they can buy any biulding... And they can't get a 50 years old song rights??

I meant Unchained Melody. Not sure who owns the rights, but I wonder whether they could be released. It wasn't too long a snippet I wouldn;t have thought.

not really on the song rights. It's fine to play what you want at your own concert but when you go to film it and put it on a DVD or such where you are going to make profit from it is different.

How many snippets and covers are there on U2 DVD releases? Not a lot. Helter Skelter is all I can come up with. Not many snippets make it on to DVD's either.

Bullet With Butterfly Wings on the Chicago DVD. But they're mates so that wouldn't have been an issue.

    But I take your point.
  8. i'm not saying theres none but you get 10-15 snippets at any typical U2 show. On DVD's though you are lucky to get one. Two Tribes was cut from Slane eg

Oh yes. That's right, if they had to pay for the 10 snippets per show, they would run out of money.

thats over 20 years. And Lou Reed dueted with the band on Satellit Of Love. Hardly a problem.

Do you think they deliberately de-snippet when they're playing a filmed (intended for release) show? Otherwise editing must be a nightmare.

Hence the multi-night thing I guess. ZooTV must have been fun with no second night to fall back on!
