RDB82 nearly understood what I meant. I don't expect anything groundbreaking from every new album but the last 2 albums just don't do it for me. They are solid Pop albums but nothing special. The lyrics were cheesy and weak, the music some kind of safety concept. And that's why they're not relevant to me. I just think U2 are over the top. That's okay because they are still playing solid music, but I don't get excited about a new album anymore.

Although there's still hope in me
YEAH, shut the fuck up.. You're more irritating than an insect!!!
  2. By the way, I partially agree on that. Last two albums were not top-notch nor experimental, I know. But... Hey, we can't expect a White Album every album...
  3. Ah well, War and October weren't that groundbreaking either compared to Boy. After Pop, U2 needed some new ground and they made ATYCLB. Some loved it, others didn't...HTDAAB wasn't great, just decent. So it's time for some new stuff. And I think it will come..
  4. what I don't always get is... why do some people want them to be so 'experimental'?
define experimental first of all what exactly do you guys expect? achtung baby 2? wouldn't be experimental nor new, cos they've been there.

but most importantly (imo) I think u2 found their sound by now, I'd be somewhat disappointed if they threw that away and went totally gaga with something new that's not them.

    Like Bono on the piano?
  6. I'll be glad if he's not on guitar (though he did alright on The Fly on Vertigo). I'd love to see a return to the harmonica, though like Desire, or even flute.

I don't need an experimental album, just a good one.
I for one love the Pop-Album. A lot of people would call that one experimental while I find a lot of Boy and War sounds in it - mixed with some new influences. So experimental is pretty relative...

Worst case scenario for me would be a "Window in the skies" album. Awful vision.

So you didn't like Window In The Skies? I thought it was a nice little tune - nothing groundbreaking and overly brilliant, but nice.

It had a strong Beatles influence. I enjoyed it...isn't strong live though.
