    What research?
Where did anyone associated with the band say anything concrete about the album?

I can hear lyrics..... on the NLOTH recording, which was confirmed to be a song on the next album through various news releases.

yes, there could be demos, jamming, and so on
but to say that we know absolutely nothing about this new album,
I've collected various news clippings and such, so here ya go

And this little bit right here:

....about 45 minutes after my arrival at Hanover Quay, Bono opens the door and waves to me, I get to the door and start chatting with him.
I congrat him for his birthday, talk about what I'm doing in Dublin, how long I have been here and that in a few weeks I go back definetely to Spain, etc... (he keeps remembering me as the Spanish bullfighter, hahahaaa) eventually he asks me if I have ever visited the studio interior....I want to die..., of course I said no and he invites me to come in....10 glorious minutes inside, he shows me the room they use to rehearsal and then he takes me to the recording and mixing room where Steve Lillywhite is and seconds later Lanois makes his appearance. Steve asks Bono if he wants to listen to anything, he nods, I can't believe it.

Bono tells me that what is going to sound is PSYCHEDELIC POP.... the song starts....I have to say it's something new, different from HTDAAB, it has a very hard rock sound and a very strong bass line, just at the end Morrocan influences can be felt.... the song is quite long, but awesome (I didn't ask the title).

Steve is crazy with a strange dance during the song , Bono, by his side, is also enjoying, dancing timidly and listening very carefully (both Steve and Bono kept looking at me and my reaction, but I was icefrozen, in coma, dreaming, trying to realise where I was and who I was with...)
While in the middle of the song Adam appears with a coffee in his hand, he says hello and stands by me.
When the song ends Bono asks me how I like it, everybody looking at me, I say: "strong! fresh! amazing! I have no words!", they all laugh..."

No line... is rumoured to be a song on the new release. Where was it confirmed by someone "official".

What you quoted is a report by a fan transported and translated through 2 different websites. Could be true, could be made up.

There are some things that are pretty likely, I agree on that. But there's nothing confirmed yet, that's all I'm saying.

I remember reading a report similar to that by an American reporter who was listening to an early demo in the car with Bono and Edge on the way to some festival recently. With that in mind, I'm fairly sure it sounds like NLOTH is the song that the band feel is the one that they feel is the most promising from their endeavours, much like ISHFWILF was during the JT days - if someone came in to check things out, they'd perform or play that to them. I have a feeling NLOTH sounds like something similar.

yep - NLOTH and Ballad of Ronnie Drew were the songs that American reporter heard.

we keep hearing no line on the horizon - I'm sure that will be on the album

Would be darkly amusing if it doesn't make it onto the final cut lol... and irritating, because I really like the sound of it...the heavy guitar work, killer drums etc...plus the cool name!

if i remember, Bono said it describes a specific time when the sky and sea are one. is this one of the time related things they were talking about? not numbers, but times of day? unless it was numbers.....

Whoa, don't get prophetic on me now or profound or whatever, I can't remember minor details of what Bono has mentioned in the past about this album!

I'm pretty sure NLOTH will be the first single, i personally think that they should just let loose on themselves and release more than 12 tracks on the bloody album, or do the radiohead thing and release a 'Disc 2' online.

Totally contradicting my previous post, I do remember something about "Walk Out Into The Streets" being the prospective first single...but I do think that, judging by reports, NLOTH would be more suitable. Something to really rip the veil open, like...
  10. I say we just close our eyes and pray it isn't another HTDAAB.

Which it won't be, if all goes well its another AB.

Eh, what you got against HTDAAB?!

lol, easy Harry, everyone can have an opinion...

The reason i think its NLOTH is because it sounds new, fresh and catchy.
U2 never released 'Grace' as a single for a reason.
