I'm hoping they play Dubai or Turkey on the next tour...if they do Philippines, that comes closer to reality!

I think so...they definitely need to start expanding their tour base.

The Philippines aren't what I would call a muslim country (80% catholics).

And I take any bet that they won't play there.

Surely they'd go Glastonbury before the Phillipenes. Any insight as to why U2 keep refusing Glasto?

    My mistake and ignorance then.

Looks like they pissed off Michael Eavis (founder and organiser of Glasto) several times and now he doesn't even want them any more...

I think I remember him saying something like "we don't need U2" when he was asked for this year's headliners. But who knows...

he was getting questoned about headliners and he said 'I cannot say who we have been talking to but I can say that we will not be putting on U2 or Niel Diamond'. Who knows indeed.
  10. So Monday is almost over (on the east coast of the US that is) so here is hoping that U2 got some good work done today on the new album! Lanois was recently quoted as saying he was to begin work again on the new album, they made it sound like they were starting it all together, which surely isn't the case. Lanois went on to say the sound is, "very much hand-played, but it's also electro." Keep it up boys!

Just that part of your post is brilliant by itself. Post of the week? Post of the fucking milennium, more like.

http://ie.7digital.com/artists/u2/the-ballad-of-ronnie-drew/ if you want to have half an idea of what the upcoming album might be like.

Well, maybe not exactly what the album is gonna sound like (I don't know) but they could be making an Irish folk album.
  12. Not sure this song even offers half of an idea of what their new album will sound like, unless of course they are making an Irish folk album!
