1. November '09 release or Xmas '08 etc., they have had 4 years lol...
  2. That statement might get back as a boomerang to Bono. Even for the King of hype, he said some heavy stuff there. Anything less than the most radical, most innovative, most challenging and best ever album will be a disappointment. To announce a change à la JT-> AB doesn't put the pressure from the band either.

On another note: How about splitting the topics?
This topic could be kept for all the speculation and discussion we already do.

Another one could have the things we "know" from several sources (mentioned tracknames, producers, U2.com vids, beach clips, Edge in Q, McG about Artwork, Bono on U2.com, etc...). That topic stays closed and new information is be added by the crew when it turns up. That would be some kind of "summary" - all essentials in one place.

    I like the idea
  4. I had planned a summary topic for info from official or reliable sources. Will take a we while but ill throw something together. Help is welcome

Good idea. There are already some official sources in this topic.

There are two thinga about this album: 1) It's great and brilliant or 2) It's another HTDAAB with the common pre-hype. And if so, it'll be dissapointing.

Totally agree. He's certainly taken pre-release hype to new levels lol...one of my old friends, who can't stand U2 (shame on him, he has little taste in music) felt the urge to laugh at my expense after reading something from Bono along such lines in NME or something purely because he knows I'm a big fan of the band lol...

  7. Even more so if it ends up as an autumn 2009 release.

  8. Just for the records, my comment about it being released in November was a joke.
But the more I think about it, the more does it smell strange...

A fall 2009 release is still a possibility, though, at this point, wouldn't you think?

Yeah, what do you suspect is the real reason behind this delay?

Bono left his voice behind on Kilimanjaro...

Of course it's possible but unlikely imo. I would think that the Single will be released in January (" But early next year people will be able to start hearing what we’ve been doing") the album later in the year...

At the end of July, Lillywhite said that the new album has "blown him away" - now he seems to be part of the working crew. McG has hinted on an autumn release, other sources, too - releasing the U2.com videos that early if you plan the release for 2009 doesn't make sense.

To me that looks like they're not satisfied with what they have so far, the selection of songs, the songs, whatever... That's the impression I have when I read between the lines and keep in mind what Edge said.
It might also have something to do with the release strategy (waiting for the (RED)-platform?)

    But that's just my speculation.
