    Gerard's comments were regarding ATYCLB, and to be honest I think they're warranted, if slightly over-emphatic, and I think we are all entitled the right to call people what we will, it's a value that we all treasure - we are entitled to disagree with one another, but that doesn't mean we can't voice an opinion.

    He wasn't calling Bono a stupid little man, end of; he was referring to Bono's claim that he wanted ATYCLB to be an album of 12 singles, and the ideal album format is not built around 12 singles - such a thing is not feasible. One can have an album of 12 great tracks, but not all great tracks are singles - look at all the albums they've ever released; each one is a mix of standout and lowkey tracks with regard to their status, not necessarily their musical content.

  7. Billboard posted an article more or less rehashing what U2.com said, but included that one of their sources who has heard some of the material said it's, "amazing, and a little out there. I hope they don't change anything"......that sounds good
  8. My 'stupid little man' comments were in reference to Leave Behind and was clearly a little light hearted. They wanted 12 singles to make up and album. In my opinion that is just the wrong way to make an album. Singles are often over produced and cheesy and putting 12 of those on one album made a terrible album in my opinion. Bonos comments referencing the new album to JT and AB could be just a little too much. He says in that article that they are just making music for the sake of it so why the need to compare it to their greatest 2 albums? That just sets the bar extremely high leading to added pressure on the bad and giving us massive expectations that I think the band will struggle to fulfill but .. . . . .that doesnt mean the cant.

    But did he ever compare ATYCLB or HTDAAB to AB or JT?
    I going to back the B-Man on this one!


  10. Even mentioning those albums sets a massive expectation on the album. I hope they can pull it off.
