So if they've "understood" the world, mortality and whatnot, what's this next album about? Old age? In the words of Keith Moon, talking about "Tommy" (something about a geezer...)
So, I then learned the Who are working on a non-conventional Who album. Odd, since my favorite band always had a theme in their music.
That got me to think this:
Wait, so if they're not a theme band, then why did rmann83 list a common theme in all the songs pertaining to their album? Are U2 going to work on a rock opera (just throwing that out there).

"A good friend was at the event in Half Moon Bay. As the newspaper account said, it was the annual meeting for Elevation.
They played 2 tracks off of the new album and spoke about the creative / song writing process. Bono and Edge were being interviewed (a la a fireside chat) by a music journalist (my friend didnt recall who the journalist was). They did say at the event the album would be out "in the early part of 2009"
Elevation's limited partners (ie, the people who give Bono and Roger McNamee and the group their money - usually endowments and pension fund managers) were in the room.
Despite working closely with Elevation, my friend is shockingly/disappointingly not a huge U2 fan so he didnt have much detail on the new songs that were played over the PA system other than to say they were "mid-tempo" and sounded "cool".
As an aside, Bono supposedly is pretty active at Elevation - including dialing in to their weekly investment review call on Mondays...even when he is on tour.
The whole thing lasted a couple of hours."

lol definitely an interesting concept. so does this mean that we have a concept album on our hands? I kind of hope not, at least not a traditional concept album. I'm fine with album's having over all themes like Achtung Baby, but wouldn't call it a concept album

The article just says that he was chosen to act in all new videos for the singles taken off the new album.
And yes, that's him. Watch La Haine if you get the chance. Amazing movie.
