    it's kinda annoying, but the majority of fans (of whatever band) seem to be rather pessimistic than optimistic. not that I know why or state it as fact, just something I experienced over the years with several bands and their boards... I mean, nothing wrong with criticism, but some seem to overdo it, imo.

    well, 80 is quite a difference than 60 I don't see u2 on stage when they're 80 (or with 83, like bb king) either, but with 60+? definitely possible. and if they still got it with 80, so be it! in the end, it's up to them.

    and I know everyone's probably tired of hearing it, but hey - the rolling stones? lol
  4. i thought one of the parts of being a fan of a band was supporting them, sure I might be thrown into the "obsessive" crowd when it comes to U2, and I'm not sorry about that, but I feel like sometimes on here certain people are just really saying things that serve no other purpose than to sound like condescending assholes and to just say that a certain song is shite or whatever. Personally, I think U2 is still at the top of their game and always have been. I think they've gotten better with every album. I think this is kind of getting off topic but I just wanted to put that out there

  9. Hey, new forum member here. I'm Franck, live in NJ, USA and I'm an alcoholic, i mean Im optimistic about U2! I wana add that even into their 60s they could stop touring and keep writing music. The beatles stopped touring very early on. Fan since 2000!

    Being a fan of the band for me doesn't mean that I have to blindly enjoy everything that has the label U2. I've followed this band for about 20 years now, have seen them live multiple times, cheered for them and spent a fortune on official releases, concert tickets, travelling costs, taping equipment and servers that hosted the fan forums I managed over the years.
    So, if I now say, I don't like song x or album y or the non musical Bono, does that make me less of a fan???
  12. Still at the top of their game? Thats nuts. Nobody's writing the boys off. Just judging my thought on the last 2 albums asell as Bono's direction with his other activities I can't see them keeping that spark inside me lit. I think they have just found that sweet spot where they can put put an album, sell 12m, tour it for a while then take it easy. I cant see where their personal motovation will come from to do something spwecial if they know that anything they put out will rake in the $.
