So expect a brutally long album title

ii hope they go for a different more intimate sound like The First Time stay, or Please but i also went some HARD ROCKERS FROM EDGE!! i just want this album to add to the overall sound of U2. Different from ATYCLB or HTDAAB. i want EXPERIMENTS!

Aha, yeah I know what you mean, but I'm just thinking that those names don't really sound U2-ish? If that makes sense...there's just, like I say, no epicness in it. Stuff like Achtung Baby, JT etc. had that mix of intimate "small" songs combined with the epic big stuff too. I dunno, I'm probably being pessimistic or something lol!

It could... it came too late for HTDAAB. I just hope we can't predict what songs will be on there. They've already put out Smile and Mercy officially, so perhaps they're done. However, Mercy has only been released in Chile, as a single with Smile. I just really hope its reworked. So let's see:

    No Line On the Horizon
    Moment of Surrender
    Mercy (maybe)

Ack! I've already guessed 1/4th the album!

Smile's been released officially on the 18 Singles for iTunes and Unreleased and Rare. That Smile single is absolutely fake because Mercy only leaked.

But you have guessed 1/4th of the album, so well done. Now all we need is artwork and the album title.

True... I found it on a torrent. I only go for stuff like Fruitlegs and really rare stuff. Anything else I buy. Very odd though...

    U2 - 2006 - Smile [Chile Only]
    01. Smile (Single)
    02. A Man And A Woman (Single Mix)
    03. Mercy (Demo Version)
    04. The Fly (Live From Chicago)

    Imageshack isn't working, oh well

still, the fact that it looks so real yet not official is where i am lost...
  8. I didn't even bother keeping A Man and A Woman or The Fly from it, I just wanted the other two songs. I got it from some RapidShare link.

But Mercy sounded a lot cleaner, less hissy and tinny and way clearer and that's why I kept it - however it was a bit shorter, about five or so seconds. But it definitely has been re-recorded. Listening to the one posted below at about 5.25 - 5.30 you'll pick it out straight away. The original recording from the Interference forums does not have it.

The other three I can't upload because of obvious reasons but for those of you who would like a 192Kbps MP3 version:

Nope, non-existent. Otherwise it would be listed here: http://www.u2wanderer.org/disco/sing3.html

Plus there's a few dead giveaways:

Smile: 18 Singles, Complete U2 + Unreleased and Rare (iTunes)

Mercy: No official releases of Mercy exist.

The Fly: Live From Chicago, U2.Communication

A Man and A Woman: How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, Acoustic Mix

Also, the front cover is laughable, but the back is not half-bad.

yEA its hard NOT being pessimistic because you know, I like never see any footage of Bono in the studio so im like "wat the albums almost done?? how isnt he always out doing political blah? how does he have time to do all this innovative music if hes all over the place?" I really dont think amazing songs come from long flights too the white house

Don't be surprised if the sessions started in mid-2005 during breaks from Vertigo. Lots of artists record quick stuff which does become some of their best stuff on tour, because their mind is in drive and have ideas and feel inspired.

It should be like the ATYCLB webcams and have more shots of all the band. When the Eze beach clips were available of the four new songs (the fifth was a Strokes song) they would have been recording well before then - and imagine the quality and quantity of material left over from previous sessions. You've likely heard it from Unreleased and Rare, the two new songs, the U2.com videos, how good that material is. This record could use stuff going right back to Pop and ATYCLB (as HTDAAB did for songs like Sometimes, Love and Peace...), and obviously HTDAAB too - and the other sessions we've heard about. Personally, I'm happy we're getting information at this rate. Otherwise if you know too much then it's no fun to wait, even though we're all impatient. Hopefully the *new* songs from the remasters are decent enough to keep us happy.

However...showing Bono singing and improvising would likely give away too much. You can figure out a lot from lyrics. But to have someone like Eno and Lanois (and Lillywhite) obviously means something big and innovative is happening. I do really think this could become their biggest and best of the three records (this new one, ATYCLB, HTDAAB) from what we've heard and seen. Remember how long Boy was recorded in - just under six months - and yet, it's one of their best records to date.

They need more producers like Quincy Jones and Bob Ezrin there too - think about what albums they worked on and see what true innovation is. Make a truly awesome record. In this day and age, nothing seems innovative but there are still artists who are trying to break the barrier.
