    I believe Lanois. I'm really surprised at how vocal he's been lately. I don't recall ever hearing speak so highly and sound so excited of an album session. our excitement is completely justified!

    U2's new public relations director, Daniel Lanois, told Le Journal de Montreal last week that the band has finished recording the new album, and all that's left is to "finish up some mixes." You can read the interview en Francais, or rely on this translation from our good friend Beth:

    "It's going to be different in several ways, but I think it's similar from one point of view, namely that it's going to push the known limits in the sound arena, the way Achtung Baby did in the past.

    "Currently we're working within clearly defined creative periods. We meet somewhere and we work for two weeks on everything we can. Then we all go do whatever for three weeks, before getting together again. It requires some administration, but for the creative process it's as if everything were fresh every time we reunite."

    As much as I'm excited, I agree with Yeah here.....When was the last time you heard someone who worked on and album come out and say "It's a very mediocre album. There's one or two radio singles here, but the rest of the album is filler that sounds exactly like our last album."

    That being said, bring on the new album!

    they could have hyped ATYCLB or Bomb in a similar way if that's all he's doing. From what we've read and what's been said, this album seems particuarly special and Lanois certainly sounds ecstatic over it. so we should be too!

    yeah i hear ya. after i rant to my friends like this i have to end it with, BUT i can't really sound like i know what i'm talking about until I actually have it and listen to it
