  1. I'm not really a topic-opener, but I want to create one now. I want to compare Beautiful Day from ATYCLB with Vertigo from HTDAAB. Both rock, both great songs, but which one do you prefer? I'm talking about studio and live..

    I prefer Beautiful Day studio and live..
    It's the melody and the lyrics that do it for me

    Anyone else?

  4. Beautiful Day was bigger hit, and will be remembered in 20 years more than Vertigo im my opinion, it represented new era for U2, like some accession to 00's. Generally counting both live and album versions I like BD more. It's better on album and also very good live. Vertigo on album is absolute shit comapred to any live version. So: BD > Vertigo
  5. VERTIGO for sure.I do think Beautiful Day will stand the test of time better though.
  6. I think Beautiful day is stronger as a song. It has more depth than vertigo which is, in my opinion more a standard rock song.
  7. I love Vertigo too, but it's too 'decent'..I love Native Son too, which I like even more. BD has it all, I think.
  8. for me Vertigo is the better song in the studio, i just think it has more "go", though i fully understand why the lyrics to beatiful day will have more personal attachment to people.
    Live i think Beautiful Day edges it (see what i did there), the band perform it more heavy and the ending is quite epic.
