Not happy with the set (besides Map being a regular, thats pretty awesome actually), but still going to the gig tonight. Hoping for CE since they have been sound checking it for the past week.

I'm a usual lurker (not so much a poster) on a couple of Muse boards. Their hardcore fans are divided between the awesomeness that seeing Muse live implies (they still rock a fucking big time) and the disappointment for the lackluster setlists and poor song choice.

Nobody, despite their fandom level, is blind... And like it or not, maths rule the world: 16 songs plus a few intros and taped intermissions is absolutely lame. Same goes for 21 staple songs plus 3 or 4 rotations per night all throughout a tour, every U2 fan -whether they liked or despised the IE tour- could see that.

I've been thinking about it all night and all morning, and I've decided it was worth the money. The show was still 2 hours long, even with the transitions into songs and everything (both versions of Drones dragged on forever). The visual effects, while I really never go to a show to see them specifically - I care more for the music, were absolutely incredible, some of the best I have ever seen. I realize now that the reason the set was so stationary throughout the tour was because of a lot of the songs were set to visual effects (such as The Handler, The Globalist, Isolated System, Reapers etc. Just like Drones was a "concept-album" they tried to make this show tell a story as well - a "concept-tour".

I think I may have destroyed my voice by screaming as loud as I could at the start of Citizen Erased.... and yes, Hysteria, Map, and Citizen were definitely the best 3 songs of the night. Reapers was incredible, the visual effects of Globalist were amazing, but not as good as Isolated System into Handler. I found a good video below from LA displaying what I mean. Matt said they'd be back sometime next year, but I will have to see how much the set has evolved before purchasing another ticket.

People should remember that the more visually synched the show it, the more scripted it has to be. It's hard to have a lot of variation when you have a chuck of songs with very specific visual accompaniments that even require choreographic setup.

The visuals look pretty great, but I've been watching videos from this tour and for some reason it still feels like they don't really know how to effectively use the stage...

We as U2 fans are very used to that. We know that.

But knowing it doesn't imply we have to like it.

They always stuck to a fixed setlist. My complaint is the song selection and number of songs played.

I agree, Nick....and I even get that they'd like to play more off their newer stuff. However, they should leave a few more slots open to rotate in a few of the classics. Too many essential early tunes have been omitted. I left the show feeling a bit short changed.
