1. Hello all, went to the gig last night in Dusseldorf. It was a real good gig, they gave their all.
The stadium was nice, quite intimate, the roof was open, and must say the quality of the sound was very good. One one the best things was when everyone started to clap when Magnificent was played, just before they came on stage. Large part of the crowd very passive unfortunately, hardly singing and no response when it was obvious when they wanted from the crowd to sing along. I'm not a die hard fan, but at least I know quite some of the lyrics, anyway, everyone enjoys a concert in it's own way. Seems they really got awake only during Viva la Vida and Billy Jean haha. The C-stage was nice, was right below us, well invented. What was also cool, you got your drinks in a special Coldplay glass, nice feature. At the end you were supposed to get a free CD, but as you almost had to fight a war to get one I skipped that part, unfortunately.
But once again, the performance was great.
  2. Hi all, went to see the Coldplay gig in Udine Italy yesterday, and it was a really nice experience. Having seen U2 twice this year I can make a little comparison between the two bands. All in all, I must say that there is probably (no, certainly) more energy coming from Coldplay. Both artists put on great shows, but it is evident in every aspect that Coldplay are some 15 (?) years younger than U2 (they are now around the age U2 were at the ZooTV Tour, afterall). While I still think that U2 could use that runway (outside ring) much more than they do, I can't say the same for Coldplay. They used the two runways constantly, with Chris performing a hell of a run multiple times from one side to the other. They also used a C-stage way back in the middle of the audience to perform an acoustic set. Also, Chris plays piano on most of the songs and that's a nice thing to see. I also liked the fact that Chris chatted with the audience in a much more spontaneous and relaxed way than Bono (even using proper four-letter words which Bono seems to have forgotten ), and despite the fact that also Chris is involved in numerous charity activities, they let the music speak alone, while Bono tries to promote everything he does in a way I don't like (OK, things got a bit better this year, but the Vertigo Tour version of Streets was a ruined one for me).
It was nice to see Coldplay giving away copies of a nine-track live CD to everyone at the end of the concert.
But that beginning of the Coldplay concert, with Magnificent pumping out of the speakers at full volume and crowd waving balloons and singing along litterally going nuts was priceless for a U2 fan
    Highly recommended
