1. It must be a licensed sample or something..it says this under the lyrics in the 'recordings' section of coldplay.com:

"Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall contains elements of I Go To Rio written by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson"

ah k well there you go... maybe they should've done that with Viva la Vida and there may not have been issues

  3. Maybe it was not on purpose with Viva, I don't know. But at least everything's clear here.
  4. Either which way, just given it a first listen - LOVE IT.
  5. There must be a licencing agreement because that is a direct copy.

Thats three main melodies/riffs that they have used:

    Kraftwerk (agreement)
    Joe Satriani (no agreement)
    Peter Allen (agreement)

  6. i'm still not convinced the satriani thing was plaigerism, i reckon it's plausible it was just a coincidence.

i'm cool with them sampling and borrowing though, as long as they make it clear that's what they've done. they usually get good results.

I don't necessarily have an issue with it either but theu should be able to fill an album of their own material by now.

Guitar parts sound like Stuart Adamson from Big Country also. Thats not saying they are nicked - just sound influenced.
  8. man, that new singe is shit! don't understand why everybody like's it...
  9. 6/10 for me.

    Maybe it'll grow.
  10. Mmmm, is music not about finding the right melody?? Rather than use someone else's melody..

  11. That was the same I felt when Get On Your Boots came out.
